As it's making my anxiety go through the roof and I need some reassurance!

Yes

formerbabe · 14/03/2020 22:29

Yes of course. The vast vast majority of people survive it.

blossombabies · 14/03/2020 22:30

i was just reading about this. in china about 70,000 have survived it, and they still have some active cases so number will rise.

Nochangeplease · 14/03/2020 22:36

Yes most of them. Just google the numbers. Although not accurate beciase of unreported cases, it’ll put your mind at rest.

VerbenaGirl · 14/03/2020 22:36

Yes, the vast majority (around 96 out of every 100 at the more pessimistic end of the figures I have seen) survive. It’s sadly the old and previously unwell that are dying.

Tonyaster · 14/03/2020 22:41

Thanks. I know I'm being pathetic. This really helps.

The vast majority of people survive Coronavirus and that is only considering the confirmed cases.

The true number of cases is many hundreds of thousands higher and none of these people have even reported to hospitals. Just got over it like a cold or mild flu.

You’re not being pathetic @Tonyaster. I feel the same, I think many of us do. It’s reassuring to focus on the fact that most do survive.

Rhubarbpeony · 14/03/2020 22:53

Yes! Tens of thousands - the vast majority of those who have been infected.

FenellaMaxwell · 14/03/2020 22:54

Yes - here.

JellyFishSquish · 14/03/2020 22:57

Most people! The issue is less about survival of the virus, more about survival of a health system overloaded, and economy that has to survive going into lockdown.

LaChatte · 14/03/2020 22:58

Yes, 98%.

NowtSalamander · 14/03/2020 22:58

I haven’t been tested because I fell ill on Thursday after they stopped tests but I’ve had a dry cough and fever and would be surprised if it wasn’t coronavirus as it’s so exactly in line with the symptoms. Mine fit the description of 80% cases that are mild (already I feel like I’m mostly over it) and I’d put it above a cold but well below the sort of flu that makes you vomit. I know it’s not this way for everyone but do bear in mind you’re much more likely to be in the majority figures alongside me.

BMW6 · 14/03/2020 23:01

Vastly more people survive this than die OP

Tonyaster · 15/03/2020 11:34

Thank you xx I feel mean - just snapped at dd13 in the car because she wants a big party for her 14th (beginning of May!)

It is likely that 98% or more will survive it but we will never know because the majority of people won’t have been tested so the death rate number on tested cases look high currently
