Anyone know?

What is their reasoning here?

They now say they are focusing on flattening the curve not herd immunity. So why miss out a key measure to stamp down on cases?

They don’t care

Lack of resources I imagine?

I think the UK will do a U-turn once younger people start dying off. But it may be too little too late by then

They might worry about running out of tests altogether?

Reginabambina · 14/03/2020 16:30

*justvti clarify they need the tests for hospitals. It’s one thing to have Coronavirus unidentified in the general population, but in a hospital environment is something else entirely.

I am also worried about babies - we have no idea yet whether the reason why they are protected in other countries (the child immune response theory doesn’t apply to newborns who would not have had exposure to lots of different viruses). If it’s because of higher breastfeeding rates then the UK may well see a lot of neonatal cases and deaths.
