Not sure if it thought it was funny but I’m not laughing .
Just say minding my own business eating a sausage roll (mega pregnancy cravings !) and I got my hand sanitiser out as I’ve just been to a few shops and I always clean my hands anyway virus or not. Anyway this guy , about 58ish sat next to me and he said ‘oh you’re not paranoid as well are you?’ And I looked at him and said ‘no’ so he lent over and coughed in my face , not just once, but repeatedly. I’ve walked out, don’t even know how to feel.
This isn’t a joke, I wish it was.

To pp who say the OP should have punched him: might have been my initial response if I were the OP but if I had given it a second longer thought I probably wouldn’t if I were pregnant. She would have been totally in her right to give him 2 black eyes from my moral point of view but she’s pregnant. Somebody who is able to do this to a pregnant woman would also be very well able to become fysically violent as a response if the OP had defended herself in a fysical way. I wouldn’t risk it for my baby’s sake and this is probably exactly why this piece of scum choose a pregnant woman as his target.

Were you somewhere with CCTV that can be obtained by police to try and trace this wankstain (I refuse to call him a man)? If you are visibly pregnant that would be even more of a case for assault.

It is worth reporting this assault to 101, not so much that it will get him caught for an isolated incident, but so that the police are able to be able to build up a picture. It is probable that this scum will do it again.

There's no point telling a shocked victim of crime what you would or wouldn't do in the moment.

@acatcalledjohn my husband said about CCTV , but I went to check and Greggs didn’t have cameras . My husband wanted me to tell the police as there were some on the high street but I wasn’t sure it bit justified using their time . Wish I had now

@Sparklesocks One in Derbyshire, I was surprised too but I also think even if they did have them, the way I was sat and where the man was he would’ve been out of sight even if the cameras were at the door like most shops. You could’ve seen me but I don’t think he was in sight as he was sat at an angle beside me . I really wish I’d taken his photo

because when someone does something shocking and intimidating it's very hard to respond in the 'right' way, it takes training and planning!
Most of us will freeze or flee (unless it feels safe to 'fight') because we have to rely on automatic responses.

Sorry OP, but that is absolutely disgusting and must have been disturbing. When I was at university a man in the pub spat into my friends eye for no reason and claimed he had all sorts . It sounds like he was just being an arse and you'll be fine health wise, but ew. I hope he does it to someone who doesn't take it so lightly (but definitely don't blame you for not).
