The papers tomorrow will say Boris will ban gatherings of 500 + and schools will have two weeks extra at Easter.

Ds school have sent out instructions today on how to access the online lessons. They are making Y11 & 13 priority ready for exams.

I too heard this just now on R4

And the Times front page tomorrow says that the government could use new powers to force schools to stay open.

I can’t see how the government could force schools to stay open if they have no staff!

noblegiraffe · 13/03/2020 23:18

Well no, fedup, but what is shows is that newspapers have no special access up information about school closures here.

bemoreeverything · 13/03/2020 23:19

Downing St has announced this

I can't seem to find any official announcement

It's farcical that it's an all or nothing approach...

Sir paddy said its all or nothing, but other countries manage a flexible system.
Schools remain open on skeleton staff, for pupils of parents who really need it.

I'm in education I'd very happy with this compromise and dh Could also work round it
Throwing teachers, bus drivers, admin staff, cleaners, maintenance people, cooks and everyone else's under the bus is hideous. They are gp too!!

We need immediate local covid info, immediate hospital, ambulance 111 info, new no for covid...

Clear 111 for everything's else.

And total flexibility on schools, pulling dc out.

I thought the tories unlike Labour were all for personal autonomy?

LambriniSocialist · 13/03/2020 23:30

I don't get how the schools are going to be able to stay open anyway - if people are self isolating for a cough or even if someone they live with develops symptoms, there won't be any friggin staff anyway!
