Is anyone else struggling to get formula? Luckily my mum warned me about this so we've got 3 tubs on standby. But DH couldnt get hold of the stuff anywhere today. This whole situation has got me worried sick Sad
The idiot stockpilers have a lot to answer for!!!

Have you tried Amazon pantry?

katmarie · 13/03/2020 22:13

Amazon seems to have SMA, Aptimil and Cow and Gate in stock, as well as some more specialist ones. How long will 3 tubs last you?

Butterwhy · 13/03/2020 22:13

What brand do you use?

MediocreOmens · 13/03/2020 22:15

I do hope you find some but surely having three tins and looking to buy more makes you a stockpiler?

xyzandabc · 13/03/2020 22:16

Idiot stockpilers?
You have 3 tubs already. You are looking for more. Does that not make you an idiot stockpiler too? Or do you usually have 4 or more tubs 'just in case'?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 13/03/2020 22:17

You're an 'idiot' stockpiler too Confused

Alb1 · 13/03/2020 22:18

How long will that last you? A tub used to last me about a week, so if it’s anything similar to that then you should be fine. You’ve got extra ‘on standby’ just like the other people you’ve described so I’m sure it will get restocked over the next week or so. Buy normally now then you can avoid adding to the problem

Whataboutthattthen · 13/03/2020 22:20

Do you have triplets?

QueenOfThePumpkins · 13/03/2020 22:22

Should have said, I've got twins so the 3 tubs last a week and occasionally we need a 4th. Not really stockpiling, just a regular weekly shop.

Thanks for the suggestion about buying online, will get on Amazon and hopefully pick some up there.

Well aren't you a nice bunch.

To be fair to the OP, Three tubs would last me no longer than two weeks, possibly less the older my baby got especially if they were drinking full bottles every 3-4 hours.

Next week or the week after could be worse so it's only wise to buy in extra.

I think it's more a case of everyone buying a couple extra all at the same time rather than fewer people buying all of it at once.

SallySun123 · 13/03/2020 22:45

Can you put a message out on a local mums group if things get really desperate? Someone might sell/donate some back to you or offer you some breast milk even! 😄No one wants to think of babies going hungry so I’m sure other mums would help you out if needed.

ChippityDoDa · 13/03/2020 22:46

B&M had some last week in our town, Aptamil.

Gerbi1 · 13/03/2020 22:46

What brand do you need op? I can look out for you

TheGirlWithAPrince · 13/03/2020 23:07

I also have 2 babies, I use a tin every 2 days so 3 would last about 6 days. I also always keep 1 as emergency backup for whatever reason

MintyMabel · 13/03/2020 23:08

I've got twins so the 3 tubs last a week

So they’re not on standby then.

Purplewhitelie · 13/03/2020 23:09

Yes amazon.

foreverhungry2409 · 13/03/2020 23:19

Luckily my little one has APtamil for hungry babies so it was an easy find but a lot of milk on the shelves were unavailable in local Asda! I seen a lady with 10 tins of cow and gate! I was in utter shock 😐 that's a stupid amount to be hoarding imo. I brought a max of 2 - it just felt selfish to get more. It's the same with nappies, I've got 2 babies under 2 and I'm looking for 2 different sizes and just struggling! I'm literally going every single day though I managed to get some last night (at midnight I might add), it's a joke that I had to go to 2 different Asda's to get what I needed!

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 13/03/2020 23:30

Omg I had actually forgotten about the days of making up formula for two babies (not twins though). This post takes me back!

Sorry, not helpful and please try not to panic. Boots online?

sudocremanglaise · 13/03/2020 23:38

Oh, really? Genuinely surprised, it isn’t one that has been cleared out around here. Plenty in pharmacies, local stores, supermarkets etc.

Have you tried Boots online? I buy occasional formula orders when I want a stock - this is something I do normally every couple of months, not specifically for covid, it’s mainly for the ready-to-feed bottles so I can have a supply of multiples as formula orders are limited at Tesco online but not at Boots online. Just had a look at the matter and pretty much everything formula-wise seems to be in stock.

sudocremanglaise · 13/03/2020 23:39

^Meant to say ‘at the latter’.

shutupsteph · 13/03/2020 23:42

I second Boots online. I've ordered one for collection tomorrow as ASDA, Sainsburys and Tesco were all out

Mysocalledlifexx · 13/03/2020 23:44

Contact your health visitor she may able to help.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 13/03/2020 23:47

You need to try to get to the supermarkets when they do restock. Try to find out when your local restocks and go then.
I was in Aldi this morning before work and they were putting out formula - maybe about 10 past 9. The shelf was bare but they had loads in the cage. My local (24 hour) Tesco on the other hand stocks overnight so anytime from 11pm onwards is the best time to go and get stuff that’s hard to find. I got some long life milk at that time the other day but it’s always sold out by mid morning.

Most supermarkets have said there isn’t really shortages in supply - with the exception of hand sanitiser and hand wash. Things like toilet roll are being delivered daily, it’s just that people are buying them all as soon as they hit the shelves. I would imagine formula is similar.

DettolsYourFriend · 13/03/2020 23:55

I really don't think having 3 would be "stockpiling" even with a single baby, they get through that shit fast!

But if you want help OP, you really need to say what brand you're looking for.

stickerqueen · 13/03/2020 23:55

I noticed that loads of places have no formula near me.
Nappies seem to be an issue too unless dc is in a size 4.
