He can try but there is an actual Constitution - unlike UK and Ireland he doesn't get to chose when the election is. It is mandated by law. Rudy Guiliani tried this after 9/11 and it didn't work for the mayor of nyc either.

Just heard him say we have ordered ventilators just in case. Does anyone actually believe this? I certainly don't (and I live in the US). I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth including the conjuctions and linking verbs.

According to my American medic relative, they don't even have testing kits available in their state yet.

Which state? I just got an email from my GP practice saying they have tests and have set up drive-thru testing, which was a surprise as I was also under the impression tests are only available on a very limited basis.

Dr Fauci is a very well respected and experienced public health official. Hes pretty much the only person on that team whose words I put any stock in.

If Trump was a random person I met, I would honestly think he was ill or had a significant neurological problem.

How any Trump supporter can watch that and then try to accuse Biden of cognitive issues boggles the mind.

I think that Trump was slow to react initially, and didn't take the issue seriously, but he seems to have done a complete U turn now and has put together a team that is getting things done quite quickly. He seems to have played to his strengths, in the way that he has used his business experience to combine public and private resources to tackle things like testing and keeping food supplies going. Trump has a lot of faults, but after a slow start he does seem to have got a grip on the situation.

He did seem quite tired and his voice was hoarse, but maybe that's down to the strain of being POTUS during a major health crisis - I think anyone would struggle. I think he should get tested anyway, and meantime he should stop shaking hands, but I guess a lifeling habit like that is hard to break. Bojo seems to be the same, but hopefully many people are using hand sanitiser frequently and washing hands regularly anyway, so that will mitgate the effects of people shaking hands.
