Coronavirus and the housing market

We were waiting for our flat to officially sell and the memorandum of sale to go through before we could start offering on properties and there were plenty of them within our budget/area.
This was 2 weeks ago, since then absolutely everything we liked has sold and there is virtually nothing within our budget or the areas we like. This week nothing has come up on rightmove whereas there was at least 6 new properties a week...
Starting to worry we wont be able to find anything if people are delaying selling and waiting for the virus peak to pass. Is anyone else in a similar situation and starting to worry about what they will do?

im trying to buy a house and the last few weeks there have been hardly any new houses listed that suit my needs. whereas before there were alot to choose from

It's not just where I live then! Wondering how long this lull will last, cant go on indefinitely surely?
mklanch · 13/03/2020 18:54
i hope not. i was really excited to move but i'm getting a bit deflated! i'm a regular on rightmove and I've seen the properties more than half in just a few weeks. alot has come on with big reductions as well.

Ive also wondered how this will affect the housing market. Will anyone be able to even get mortgages right now?
BumbleNova · 13/03/2020 19:00
Why would it affect mortgages? If your job is stable, I can't see any issue.
It's annoying, I think people are holding their breath a bit again.
Geepipe · 13/03/2020 19:03
Because a karge portion of the uk is not in stable employment and many businesses that were previously stable will have gone budt by thr end of it including the airlines badly affected. That and many people will be asking for a mortgage break so will banks really dole out new mortgages when so many are asking to pause payments.
