School pushing for payment for a residential trip next month...would you pay?

Just that really DC has a school residential trip next month and though we have paid the deposit school and now pressing for the rest of the payment (funnily enough unlike any other week when we are bombarded with emails, the only 2 have both been reminders to pay for something)

Would you pay?

Is it likely that the schools are going to be open next month, never mind still taking the children away for 4 days, it’s over £200 so not a couple of pennies and I’m wondering how keen they will be to reimburse if it does all go tits up!!

Yes. They’ll refund if it’s cancelled.

Beesisabuzzin · 13/03/2020 14:37

God no. There's no way they'll still be going.

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/03/2020 14:38

No way.

KillerKween · 13/03/2020 14:38

It said last night all school trips abroad are cancelled. There was no maybes or exceptions mentioned!

zefstar76 · 13/03/2020 14:38

I have the same and won't be paying the remaining balance.

whodunit3 · 13/03/2020 14:40

It’s not abroad though, just a couple of hours away...

No.

Rhayader · 13/03/2020 14:40

Our school has just cancelled all trips and isn’t refunding them.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 13/03/2020 14:41

No.

bigchris · 13/03/2020 14:41

No I wouldn't

KillerKween · 13/03/2020 14:41

Ah right, sorry! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Not sure I'd be sending my kids away at this point, so - no I would not be paying.

Humina · 13/03/2020 14:42

No. You might not want them to go by then.

I've just had to pay £100 for a trip we'd committed to going on and I will only get a refund if the centre closes. Which, I guess, for financial reasons, it might not. I fully expect to lose the money.

SVRT19674 · 13/03/2020 14:42

Would not pay and no he wouldn't be going anyway. This is a pandemic not a holiday.

backaftera2yearbreak · 13/03/2020 14:43

My sons going to PGL on Monday unless it’s cancelled. I’m not sure I’d be so confident in a few weeks though.

backaftera2yearbreak · 13/03/2020 14:43

In this country.

Gadgnkk · 13/03/2020 14:44

no

Yes if it's UK based.

Wouldn't hurt to contact school though with your concerns - we did that last week for a UK one and one abroad and we've still heard nothing though deadline for abrad trip payment dores appear to be later - but these trips are end June/July.

Youngest at another school has UK one end of this month - already paid for and we've heard nothing about it not going ahead.
