I'm supposed to be running the Reading Half Marathon at the start of April. I have run it several times before, so I know it's a busy event (over 15,000 runners if everyone turns up - plus supporters, of course - and it is a well-supported event). My DD and DH are running the Green Park Challenge on the same day. This is a great family event that starts before the half, with runners finishing in the Reading FC stadium. We were all looking forward to it and I've been training properly.
They sent an email yesterday that basically said they're not cancelling yet. It came out immediately after yesterday's press conference so I reckon they had prepared two different emails in advance - one saying they were cancelling and one saying they weren't.
Anyway, even though it's still going ahead at the moment I am feeling increasingly unsure about it. I think I'm right in saying that if we were in Ireland, or France, or Germany, or countless other places, it wouldn't be happening. And that a runner in Italy spread coronavirus to some of his fellow runners. I just feel quite uneasy about going.
What would you do?
