Should I go to London this weekend

I'm due to go to London in the morning, on a coach to the Harry Potter museum for the weekend. I called last night and all uk based trips are going ahead. I booked it as a birthday present for my daughter. It's cost £300 which is a lot to me. I also have a small cough (not persistent and no temp). I really don't know what to do.

I would go. You’re just as likely to get it at home as you are in London.

NeedToKnow101 · 13/03/2020 08:14

I would go as well.

ThanosSavedMe · 13/03/2020 08:15

I would still go.

ThanosSavedMe · 13/03/2020 08:16

Unless either of you has a cough or fever!

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 13/03/2020 08:16

Definitely still go.

EvilPea · 13/03/2020 08:17

I would go, London is pretty empty at the moment.

Inkpaperstars · 13/03/2020 08:22

I hate saying this OP but....Don't go, you have a cough. When they say persistent I assume they mean not just a single instance cough because you swallowed the wrong way or something.

I sympathise but to be honest I am hoping that you would be asked to get off the bus, leave the museum etc, because the only way we are going to enforce this is if the public don't tolerate people out with a cough.

Echobelly · 13/03/2020 08:29

I'd say go, yes.

aprilhope · 13/03/2020 08:32

Yes, you should go.

Inkpaperstars · 13/03/2020 08:37

Just a quick question for all of you saying to go. If a thoughtful person like OP does not follow the guidelines, who will?

Your cough is very likely not covid 19. But it could be. To isolate the cases that are there has to be a blanket ban on going out with these symptoms. I would expect to be asked by staff and other visitors to leave once you arrive.

EvilPea · 13/03/2020 08:38

Oh god, I missed you had a cough.
No don’t go.

bekindtome · 13/03/2020 08:44

My main worry is infecting others And been asked to leave. I have insurance but I don't think it will pay out. My anxiety is really high at the minute.

aprilhope · 13/03/2020 08:54

Sorry, I also missed that you have a cough. I think you need to think about whether you may infect others.

Caspianberg · 13/03/2020 09:00

No I wouldn't

  1. you have a cough
  2. coach trip is a breeding box of germs
  3. harry potter world is full of tourists usually from everywhere. a prime place to pick up anything.
bekindtome · 13/03/2020 10:51

I've decided to isolate so I won't be going. It's not worth it. Insurance have said they aren't paying out for unconfirmed cases. So looks like I will lose all of the money.

Can you contact HP world to see if you can postpone your visit and use the tickets at another time in the future?

HathorX · 13/03/2020 10:56

I would go, unless you have someone vulnerable in your household. You could also contact the operator and see if they would allow you to change the date. You never know!

LizzieSiddal · 13/03/2020 11:02

Glad you've decided not to go.

As others have said, phone Harry Potter World and ask them if you can transfer the tickets. I expect they will, if you have a cough, as they won't want you turning up and infecting their staff.

LizzieSiddal · 13/03/2020 11:04

I would go, unless you have someone vulnerable in your household.

What a selfish thing to say- what about vulnerable people the Op could come into contact with if she goes on this trip! We need to all start thinking of other people, not just our own families.

HotChocolatemarshmallows · 13/03/2020 11:05

Stay at home.

Inkpaperstars · 13/03/2020 12:49

Sorry you're missing out OP, but you've definitely made the right decision.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 13/03/2020 18:10

Probably best - don’t know how I missed you had a cough Blush

ThanosSavedMe · 13/03/2020 19:48

Oops I also missed where you said you had a cough. Sorry. I recommend contact HP studios and asking if you can rebook as you’re not well. They may be able to help you out. Hope it’s not the virus and you’re ok
