DD8 has symptoms

DD has a bit of a sore throat on Wednesday but nothing else, came out of school yesterday complaining of a headache & sore throat & feeling really cold. Bit of a cough but not as bad as she's had before.

Didn't want to worry because she didn't have a fever, but she woke up at midnight burning up.

She's now coughing more & still has a temp.

She's had a dose of ibuprofen & none of us can sleep.

I'll call 111 later but based on yesterday's press conference I think she needs to isolate for 7 days but DH & I don't unless we show symptoms, and none of us will get tested anyway.

We've kissed her, cuddled her, we live in close proximity so chances are we'll get it too. She had a friend round on Wednesday so she might have it too.

School have been really good washing hands after every lesson so hopefully it doesn't spread but who knows.

DH is really calm whereas I just want to cry.

DH & I are in the fortunate position of being able to work from home & my mum lives v close so can drop food etc off. But I'm still shitting myself.

People have been told not to call 111 unless you actually need medical help. Everyone else is just to self isolate and treat themselves. They will only test those in hospital now.

Yes I remember them saying that now, thank you.

I guess we'll just have to ride it out.

I hope you're all OK. Flowers

Hopefully she will be able to recover well over the next 6 days, hot ribena, calpol and ibuprofen. Then she will be immune.

Then you all need to be vigilant for symptoms in yourselves and follow the same measures. Stock up on easy food and make sure you have paracetamol/ ibuprofen.

It may be one of the many other viruses going around at the moment or it may be cv, hard to tell, but just treat as if it is.,Thanks

Butterwhy · 13/03/2020 06:23

It's likely a virus, plenty going round as always at this time of year. Isolate in case, and hope she is feeling better soon.

Thanks everyone, she seems ok this morning, no temp but very rosy cheeks & still coughing quite frequently.

My mum lives nearby & she put some dettol wipes through the letterbox so I'll clean everything DD touches with those.

I've got a headache but I think it's lack of sleep more than anything.

One of her close friends has had a cold this week so it's probably that but I don't want to take the risk & im lucky I can work from home so I am.
