I’m on a temp contract at a supermarket was hoping to be made permanent, I have had a few days off already for personal reasons. I’m not owed any time off as I’m still on probation period. I have two kids, I’m a single parent with no family any were near me and I have started to get a cough, I feel absolutely fine otherwise. If I lose my job over having to self isolate for 7 days, I lose universal credit which helps me with rent etc as well . What am I supposed to do?

If you don't have a temperature I'd go to work.

^That’s not the advice. The advice is with a new cough OR temp you should self isolate. It doesn’t have to be both. So you should be staying home for 7 days. I think you can tell your work that you’re reluctant to stay home and you really want to keep the job but you don’t think they’d want you to take the risk of infecting customers or colleagues. It wouldn’t look good for them if they fire you for following govt advice designed to keep others safe.
