AIBU coronavirus and sweeties

At the end of my daughters youth club the leaders gave each child a sweet from a tub on the way out. Each child was dipping their hands into the same tub and then eating the sweet immediately without washing their hands, am I being unreasonable to think that this shouldn't have happened to prevent germs passing?

Please give me a reality check if needed!

YABU - surely there is greater risk of transmission between the children during the youth club activities (hand holding, close contact etc) than each taking one sweet from a tub? Unless each child licked every sweet first?

Its definitely an opportunity for the spread of germs but to be honest, if there is a child with coronavirus present, these germs are going to be everywhere anyway as kids will touch surfaces and then their face without thinking about it.

At my DD's nursery half the kids seem to think toys are for sucking so everything is covered in other kids' saliva.

Very true! Never thought of that, just making the germy hand to mouth connection after all the play/touching!

Any more thoughts?

YANBU. This is one of many measures that should be implemented in this time of pandemic. No sharing food, a server hands out any food/treats rather than people help themselves.

Realistically though the youth group should be canceled for the reasonS mentioned by PPs. They'll be sharing germs just gathering together anyway.
