Should I reschedule dentist appointment because of Coronavirus?

Probably a silly question.

I have an appointment for myself and 2 DD’s for Monday. It’s just dawned on me that maybe I don’t want someone’s fingers in our mouthes with the current pandemic going on. DD6 also has asthma which has been worsening in the last few months.

Should I attend the appointment? Do you think their hygiene procedures will be sufficient? Or should I just postpone?

Thanks.

I'm wondering this too, I know it's probably OTT, but I've been putting off booking dentist appointment and smear test is due, but avoided booking that as I'm worried about going to the GPs at the moment. Sad

But yes I do realise that cervical cancer etc would be far worse than this & I shouldn't avoid it.

Phone up the dentist tomorrow & see what they advise. If you're long-standing patients, they should be aware of your daughter's asthma - if not then remind them! If you're in any doubt then cancel/rearrange.

Honestly I would go.

Dentists have excellent cross-infection control - they will be wearing gloves and masks etc and instruments are all autoclaved (sterilised). All surfaces are cleaned with disinfectant between every patient.

It's probably one of the safest places to go at the moment.

I went to the dentist Monday, they did email me to remind me it was overdue though which is unusual so I wonder if less people are going!
