High blood pressure and coronavirus

Keep reading any people with hypertension are more likely to die from covid-19.

I’m in my twenties, my blood pressure is a little high (not critically high but mainly have problems with my diastolic being in the 90’s). Not medicated as doctor said to try lifestyle changes first.

Please tell me I’ll be okay if I catch it!

Generally pretty healthy. No other health problems.

I'm confused about this too. I have high BP but it is managed by meds so isn't high. Am I at risk even though my meds make my BP normal?

I am also interested....high blood pressure managed by meds.
Is that a problem and why?

It's too early to tell if there is any causation or link. The premise arises from observations from one doctor in Wuhan reporting back.

This is a readable article that gives some background:

Best advice is probably to keep your BP under control so your heart doesn't have to work too hard if you get ill.

OP, I have a home monitor so I can tell what my BP is throughout the day, not just at the GP surgery. I find it very useful. If your diastolic is really topping 90+ throughout the day then it might be time to look more closely at the possible causes, if you're otherwise healthy. But the main thing is heart & vascular health. (Sorry if I sound like that muppet from the Oral B advert.)

I have high BP (controlled by drugs) and asthma - I stand no chance.
