PM google don’t call 111 - how will we know the scale of it?

Just a bit bemused how we will track U.K. cases if people just stay at home don’t call 111 and therefore don’t get tested. Especially as tests are only available if you’ve been in contact with another case.

Despite agreeing schools should not be closed yet I am genuinely confused by PM announcement.

Thoughts pls.

I just spoke to 111 and they said they aren't going to be doing any tests at all now... is that right? Seems crazy if it is!

It's very very scary.

No tests now...only in healthcare settings.

I am genuinely confused and in a situation where work has told us to wfh if we want to but that is also hard to navigate.

If they are not testing how will they know it is at the scale to close schools

Didn't the medical officer at the briefing say that cases are probably 10000 now, as it's 1000 ish official. Guessing that they are assuming everyone will get it now so no point testing and wasting precious funding.

Not saying I agree or disagree, but it might be the thinking.

They are only going to be testing people admitted to hospital.

They will calculate numbers from death rate.

People will just take the piss...

You're not supposed to call 111 now - but wasn't the info in the budget yesterday that you were to call 111 to get a telephone coronavirus sick note to be eligible for the enhanced SSP?
