Covid
I tried to buy paracetamol today
CormoranStrike · 12/03/2020 15:11
I have a slow building headache today, two of my family have headaches and one has period pain, so I went to buy painkillers. I cannot take ibuprofen as I am asthmatic.
I was rationed in Boots to one packet of eight tablets as they are worried about stock levels.
Not directly coronavirus related, but very definitely because of it.
A glimpse of the weeks to come I fear.
Whatsnewpussyhat · 12/03/2020 15:17
This was the pasta section in my local asda earlier, loo roll isle empty and no paracetamol on the shelves.
I managed to get a pack in wilko the other day.

Asmuchuseas · 12/03/2020 15:19
I bought 2 packs yesterday the shop I was in had loads but I've been in a supermarket today and they had none.
bemoreeverything · 12/03/2020 15:23
There are threads in here going back months about the shortage of paracetamol
Megan2018 · 12/03/2020 15:26
Loads in the supermarket here-I bought 2 packs yesterday. I’m BF so limited to what I can take and want plenty in as I have an injury.
There was only branded ibuprofen though and I’m too tight to pay for it
damnitnotlistening · 12/03/2020 15:30
Same in my local shops and if there are some they've doubled the price. I thought shops weren't supposed to profit from this virus.
Mamamia456 · 12/03/2020 15:38
Cormoran - The shortage is nothing to do with coronavirus, there has been a supply issue for months. I have seen quite a few local supermarkets with stock, probably because I don't need any, but I do need toilet roll, which I can't find!
lowlandLucky · 12/03/2020 15:42
Thank goodness in this little corner of Scotland we have plenty of Loo rolls, pasta, adult painkillers, Calpol, nappies and everything else on the shelves, nobody here seems to be panic buying

I was going to post the same, while CV has made it worse there have been shortages for ages
Pilot12 · 12/03/2020 15:46
My ALDI hasn't had paracetamol or ibuprofen since last summer. My Tesco hasn't had Ibuprofen (other than expensive Nurofen) for months either. The cheap stuff has disappeared somewhere but it's not because of CV.
sudocremanglaise · 12/03/2020 15:46
I’ve also found some shops are selling out quickly because they’re high street names - like Boots, Tesco etc. Around here you won’t find any soap for instance in Boots, not a single bottle or bar, but in the independent pharmacy two doors down they’ve got loads (including various antibacterial soaps).
Might not be the same everywhere but it’s a trend I’ve spotted here, maybe because they’re familiar, people go in there to buy other stuff etc.
AsAnActualWoman · 12/03/2020 15:47
I thought painkillers went missing months ago because of Brexit.

I'm pretty sure that paracetamol is in short supply because of something to do with the Indian suppliers, nothing to do with Brexit. I don't know about generic Ibruprofen but afaik other branded painkillers are manufactured in the UK
buttermilkwaffles · 12/03/2020 16:05
My nearest Lidl still had Ibuprofen yesterday and it's on offer, maybe try Lidl if you are near one.
haverhill · 12/03/2020 16:05
I've just been in an independent pharmacy - the shelves were stocked normally apart from hand gel.
CormoranStrike · 12/03/2020 16:56
Shows how often in buy it, I had no idea there was an ongoing shortage
