Irish school and colleges to close tonight from 6pm

I'm in Ireland and waiting to hear further updates from the Taoiseach on how long the closures will last and whether they'll wait until after Easter to go back?

Do you think the shops/supermarkets will close too?

So are teachers still allowed to go in to catch up/are they and support staff expected to go in? How does it work?

When were your Easter holidays starting before this happened?

They're closing down. I haven't heard a thing about staff going in. Easter holidays aren't due to start here until April 6th.

The Taoiseach said this morning all schools ,colleges and childcare facilities will close until March 29th. To be reviewed as we go on. Also in that statement he said all shops, chemists, restaurants to remain open for now.

I Just got told by schools now, they're are saying March 29th for now but I'd say they'll continue till after Easter.

My kids break up for Easter on 3rd April so I'd guess the closures from today will continue through to Easter.
Can't believe we are actually ahead of the UK in doing this, I have all my family in U.K. and they are considering not sending their kids to school but will probably get fined if they do that!!

We were due visitors at Easter from U.K. so I’m thinking they’ll cancel now.

School have sent out 3 messages so far including one about Setting work for home (homework). Also, the advice is for students not to meet up so play dates etc. are out.

Will be collecting at 3pm so will see what the other parents have to say.

All activities cancelled here. Community Games, Football, Local GAA & swimming lessons etc

I'm actually due back to work next week after maternity leave!!

Shops selling essentials won’t close, nowhere has done this.

Shops are going to be open, hasn't stopped the panic buyers!! Supermarkets are insane where I am.
