Leo has just announced that all schools, colleges and childcare settings are to be closed from tomorrow until 29th March. (So realistically I think until after Easter.)

Mass gatherings of over 100 people effectively banned and workers encouraged (although not enforced) to work from home.

It seems NI are also following The Science. Schools stay open for now but the issues will be reviewed next week.

I didn't fully understand the logic of keeping schools open so grandparents won't be exposed to the virus when they are minding children. Sure plenty of grandparents already mind grandchildren and collect them from school. Surely closing schools will reduce chances of kids getting virus and help protect the grandparents??? 🤔

Yes it’s likely the grandparents who will do the looking after during a school closure are also the ones who are providing afterschool care already.
