France has the next highest European cases. There is a ban on rallies of more that 1000.
In view of what the Italians are subjected to, I think this 3500 smurf meeting is more that a bit irresponsible

Maybe Smurfs are immune. They're not like us, they're blue.

My parents were in Paris at the weekend. They said the hygiene is appalling there and nobody seems to be taking preventative measures so I am really not surprised how fast its spreading there

The toilets can be quite gross, we were skiing there at half term. Funny enough we all got ill after coming home, it was totally manic on the roads that weekend (the last one of half term) everyone travelling up from the Alps area, and the services had crowds of people waiting for the loos...of course it was kind of before we knew of any cases there / here and no-one was using antibac or anything, hand washing was going on but everyone was using the toilets / doors etc, makes me think.

The hygiene is no better here, have you been in schools.
At least the French haven't relied on kids cleaning their hands to lower the spread.
