DS 15 has a hacking cough. I can hear him from here. We phoned 111 yesterday, told them symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose) and that his girlfriend and family was in Singapore all half term.

No need for testing and can go to school if well enough.

My job involves visiting very old people at home, not for care but other reasons. Though I am a HCP. I've not got visits today, but I have Thursday and Friday.

What would you do?

Thanks

My 9yo DS has developed a very sudden dry cough and sore throat this morning, no runny nose so but like the normal cough/cold viruses he gets. 111's useless symptom checker says do nothing but it doesn't seem right to me.

Should I take him and DD to school? I'm more worried about spreading something than I am about him, he seems quite happy to go.

Thought?

Sorry typo, it's "not like a normal cold/cough"

I’d keep them home.

It is much more widespread than the numbers suggest, because of the very limited criteria for testing.

Unless you are an MP, apparently Hmm

As he's 9 and if you don't have important work to be at, I'd keep them home. That is the advice in most places.

All seems a bit late now anyway. Don't know how Government can claim containment or delay when they are testing barely anyone. Apart from Dorries, obviously.

Crap, they've both gone in! I phoned medical friends, 111, and the school. All said send them in. Feel really uneasy about it!

Asked the teacher to keep an eye on him and make sure he coughs into tissues, worryingly he said "or at least into his hand" which I found alarming!

Now listening to radio on my commute and hearing that loads of schools are saying stay home if you have a cold!!

Just learned that the 5 friends he spent the weekend with are also all off school with the same.

Dunno what to do with that information so I'm putting it here.
