Anyone else ill?

Woken up this morning with high temperature (39.8-40.3) headache, neck ache and cough. I’m guessing lots of other people also have nasty colds/flus at the moment that aren’t coronavirus just from the numbers that have been tested but don’t have it.

I took cold and flu meds this morning and managed to finish everything that had a deadline of tomorrow (I work from home) and now I’ve isolated myself in loft room as it has an en-suite and don’t want to pass on to elderly MIL or asthmatic dc. Managed to sleep for 3 hours this afternoon but woken up feeling worse. Not sure if I would normally call gp or 111 but doesn’t seem like there’s much point. I’m guessing anyone who gets ill over the next few weeks will be in the same position, managing symptoms at home no matter if it’s coronavirus or a flu. Don’t really know the point of this post, DH is not responding to text messages and I’m a bit fed up!!

Dr said to me it's a swab. From a person in protective clothing no doubt.

Saw a video of a woman being swabbed while sat in her car. Like drive thru swabbing!Smile

I’ve got a slight fever/aches/tight chest. Not feeling awful but called work who insisted I stay home and call 111. I did have to visit a large town with a few confirmed cases last week to see my elderly mother but I literally went to her house and nowhere else. Town has 3 confirmed cases. I’ve called 111 but the service is over run and the automated message advised I call back later. Not sure I fall into the category of having visited somewhere infected? I promise I’m not stupid but I’m really not sure.

Hei they are only interested if you've been abroad or close contact with someone with it.

Comefromaway · 12/03/2020 10:23

Ds has had a bad cough and a sore throat for 3 weeks. He's started bringing up thick yellow phlegm this morning. It's quite concerning as he is year 11.

I have had a sore throat and cough forabout a week and a half now. I'm asthmatic but it rarely bothers me but my breathing has been off for days now.

I’m guessing community transmission is gearing up rapidly now. While the NHS have guidance around only testing known contact/travel from affected areas they will be missing loads. Telling people to self isolate for any cold flu symptoms but without testing will keep our figures appearing relatively low, albeit artificially. BJ can then claim he halted the pandemic. I would like to know where Nadine Dorries picked it up, they’ve conveniently forgotten to mention that.

@Comefromaway

The C19 cough is not phlegmy so hopefully your son doesn’t have that.

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 11:33

The cough can involve coughing up sputum though.

Comefromaway · 12/03/2020 11:48

His cough has been dry. It's just this morning he produced something thick and yellow.

But it started 3 weeks ago before any of the Italy cases hit in the UK and we havn't been abroad.

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 12:06

Lots of people with the symptoms, started 4 or 5 weeks ago, including myself.

My gp said to me there's just no way of knowing if it is or isn't. She also said that it is in the community now. The advice was self isolation until I'm better, and ring GP/111 if symptoms get worse or breathing problems.

I've been told I'm ok to return to work tomorrow by my boss. Have still got a sore throat and cough (swallowing is really painful) but as I've not developed any new symptoms (all started last Saturday) they're happy for me to come back.

Problem is, I'm nearly at the end of the self certification point, and if I'm still not well enough to go back I don't think I'll be able to see a doctor to allow me to be off longer.
