Next door neighbour works at hospital

My neighbour has been asking me to come over to help her with something. I finally went round this morning and as we were sitting on the sofa talking she asked me whether I was afraid of the Coronavirus. I said yes. Very. She said there’s no need you just need to drink water and take vitamin C. And then she said- in a conspiratorial whisper- we have the virus on my ward at the hospital.

I got up and ran away and I know I overreacted but I’m really annoyed with her. I have young children who rely on me and I think she was really selfish. I’m really afraid of getting sick. Would this upset you?

I doubt very much anyone with coronavirus would be on an open ward. I think she's winding you up.

She texted me to apologise that she did not inform me beforehand. She said he came to A&E and it is copd whatever that means.

'Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a type of obstructive lung disease characterized by long-term breathing problems and poor airflow. The main symptoms include shortness of breath and cough with sputum production. COPD is a progressive disease, meaning it typically worsens over time.'

So not coronovirus and patient wouldn't be on an open ward if it was. Your neighbour sounds weird!

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, my late father in law had it due to smoking and working in a steel works. It's nothing to do with coronavirus although it would make you a lot more vulnerable if you had it. Is your neighbour medically qualified or does she bring round the tea trolley?

Readyme · 10/03/2020 13:07

Could your neighbour be a gossip looking for attention? Is she like to truly know, for example directly involved in patient care? I
Regardless I would consider her as untrustworthy for inviting you into her home knowing she might have been in close contact with someone with Covid. I would no longer have any personal contact with her, not because she works in a hospital but because she is irresponsible.

She’s not a gossip. She is definitely a bit weird though. She’s not a doctor but she’s a ‘health care worker’. Things have been extremely weird next door actually and this is going to change the way I interact with her now. I’m actually scaring myself thinking about her! I’m not helping with anything else!
She said it’s someone with COPD and thought to have covid 19. I literally ran away from her.

She’s getting above her pay grade and trying to be important . She shouldn’t have disclosed information on the person . She obviously is a tw@ and it’s idiots like her that makes the situation worse 🤬🤬
