Is anybody with hayfever worried about becoming a Pariah soon?

Soon it’s sneezy season, I have nightmare hayfever. Biy worries about spending months being avoided, or worse, in public spaces!

My teenager is already getting comments at school due to his chronic rhinitis. He gets comments from teachers as it is about his constant nose blowing but now the boys are saying he has covid.

I bought toilet roll that was on special offer today because my usual amazon supplier is out so I got the deal at farm foods THE STARES I GOT seriously I just get through a ton of loo roll I'm not stockpiling!

And I've got a dry cough (normal for me) my youngest is wheezing (normal for him) we are all full of cold but the GLARES

SpeedofaSloth · 09/03/2020 20:28

Yes, I'm wondering how this will go, too.

Wolfff · 09/03/2020 20:37

If I go from cold into warm environments it makes my nose run. I was sniffly on the tube and the bloke I sat next to pointedly got up and stood near the doors staring reproachfully. Not his stop he stayed on the tube for several more. So yes I know what it is to be a pariah.

But a runny nose is not a symptom of coronavirus nor is sneezing.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/03/2020 20:53

I am, and I get a cough as well that often lasts from Feb/March to September! I've already started taking 2 antihistamines a day and if it gets worse I'll up them and hope for the best!

SpeedofaSloth · 09/03/2020 21:01

Yes, but I get a dry cough throughout the season (post-nasal drip).
I need to start the Beconase now, I guess.

happytoday73 · 09/03/2020 21:03

No because its different symptoms. However the medication I'm on gives me a cough... All year round.... I'm getting a lot more space on public transport these days 😁😂

FriedasCarLoad · 09/03/2020 21:04

I wasn’t yet, but now I am! Pregnant too, so it’ll be another year without antihistamines Sad. (I know, I’m very lucky to be pregnant though).

slipperywhensparticus · 09/03/2020 21:04

I got crucified for saying diarrhoea for two weeks with no other symptoms is not Coronavirus and according to some vomiting in children means they have coronavirus too I think sense has fled the internet (the children hadnt left the country not been around people who had by the way so 🤷‍♀️)

happytoday73 · 09/03/2020 21:18

Friedascarload... I used to get really, really bad hay-fever but it stopped in my second pregnancy... My body presumably decided over reacting to pollen was crazy considering I was growing another human with different genes etc..
Hopefully that will happen for you too...

mnthrowaway202020 · 09/03/2020 21:31

Had a mild hay fever flare up today and felt a bit paranoid about clearing my throat or sneezing, so I didn’t haha. Couldn’t help sniffling though, but I don’t look unwell so didn’t garner any negative attention.

I know it’s a bit hypocritical but I also feel uncomfortable being around ill people right now, I think I’d move away from someone ill too unfortunately.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 10/03/2020 21:06

I've had a flare up today - I just hope the cough doesn't get too bad!

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/03/2020 21:08

I have a cough (not corona - it's following a very snotty cold and I'm coughing up lots of plegm 😁). The glares I'm getting! I keep having coughing fits and having to run off to the loos to cough in private without everyone staring at me.

Fannia · 10/03/2020 21:11

Dh said this earlier today. He was hoping to get the whole summer off!

Gwenhwyfar · 10/03/2020 21:12

Runny nose is not a typical symptom of the new Coronavirus.
