Would you travel to Vietnam this week?

I'm supposed to be travelling to Vietnam on Thurday for a long awaited trip. Staying 2 nights in Ho Chi Mihn city and then to the coast for 10 nights.
I was fully prepared to go up until this weekend as only 16 cases of Coronavirus reported and all recovered, however at weekend a flight from London tested positive taking the confirmed cases up to 30 and over 100 quarantined.
The number of cases are still less than the UK but I'm not sure if it's too much of a risk now? I would welcome other opinions for perspective as I sometimes feel I can be too relaxed about these things!!

No sorry I wouldn't as wouldn't want to be taken ill there or have to self isolate on my return here.

FickleTickle · 09/03/2020 18:56

Yes I would. My friends, in their 60's, are on holiday there at the moment. Having a fab time.

We're just moving this over to the right topic now. Flowers

i heard today that UK now need a visa for Vietnam for I would check !!! They may not let you in

forkfun · 09/03/2020 19:27

I'd go. Foreign office does not advise against travel.

ShanghaiDiva · 09/03/2020 19:28

Visa free entry has been suspended, but you can get a visa online,
I would go assuming I had decent travel insurance.

Naw

Carrie7469 · 09/03/2020 19:32

No way

gnomeisland · 09/03/2020 19:42

No I won't. Cases here are higher than Vietnam and I wouldn't want to take the risk of potentially being a carrier of CV19 and spreading the virus over there.

playitsam · 09/03/2020 19:42

My friend and I are going on the 2nd April for 2 weeks and we've contacted the embassy regarding visa requirements, I have seen on other forums that some people have been denied visas. Unfortunately if we cancel then we'll lose flight money, is that an issue for you?
Like you, we are worried more about being quarantined over there or having trouble getting home

playitsam · 09/03/2020 19:45

Gosh that sounded bad, I mean obviously we are worried about people's health also but now these new cases have come to light we have to think practically as well

gnomeisland · 09/03/2020 19:52

No worries playitsam.
Media/Government are not asking people to think about their potential onward infection potential.
But am guessing Vietnams health service may not be able to cope with an epidemic on the scale of Italy or China. Hence the visas.
UK is just outside the top tier of infected countries.
