I work in an area with a number of confirmed cases

People arrive daily from the tubes and staff members are visiting London daily

Bosses and HR still saying ‘it’s just the flu’

As a heavily pregnant person with only a month to go if maternity leave is it unreasonable to expect to be able to work from home despite the company not really liking it?

I have colleagues flying in from Italy and USA who site next to me and right behind me and it’s all making me nervous at how little they seem to be concerned by any of it

If you can work from home, I would.
I think the government should have issued that advice a long time ago. It's an easy way to take people away from each other without too much distraction.

*disruption, not distraction!

YANBU. Any chance you can start your mat leave a bit earlier than planned? I’m 16 weeks and working from home for the next two weeks - it was very stressful getting my employer to agree. I think in the next fortnight we will see a sea change in working policy.

Hmm. Perhaps you might suddenly develop a pregnancy-related issue which means commuting to work is difficult but you can work from home (eg bad SPD?).

Then HR can't really complain but don't have to worry about setting a precedent either Wink

I do wish the government would come out and advise employers who can facilitate working from home to do so. It seems ridiculous to not take advantage of it where people can.

There is a government cobra meeting due tomorrow (Monday). I expect we will all know more by then. Strategies and maybe some restrictions will probably be announced midday or afternoon
