People stockpiling is filling me with anxiety

I don't have the money to stockpile, I live week to week, although under usual circumstances we manage, I can't afford to buy extras. I went to 4 shops yesterday before I found any toilet roll so now i'm panicking about my staples such as pasta, beans etc. Last week I saw someone with a trolley full of coffee, tea bags and loo roll (among tons of other stuff) but what about the rest of us? I'm even worrying about cat food. It's so unfair I could cry.

tbf yesterday was saturday, and lots of people do big shops on saturday.
just try and buy one extra item per week op, try lentils/rice

Try not to panic. There really are twats everywhere at the moment, reading people panicking their heads off on here doesn’t help.
ArthurMorgan · 08/03/2020 10:37
It was the same during the week last week too though, the shelves I mean, but not quite as bad, I could see things getting gappy, cereals getting low, there were no oats for example no beans etc. I don't know why I'm surprised, people panic at Christmas and shops are only shut for a day!
I also don't qualify for food banks, I get zero benefits and you have to be referred.

I agree, this is worrying me far more than the actual virus. I bet most of us have enough food in our house for a couple of weeks without panic buying. I am fortunate enough to stock pile, BUT I haven't been. It's hard because everyone seems to be, but I'm refusing to buy into it and I'm just doing my normal shop.
Try not to worry OP, hopefully it will die down.
