You have mistakenly not put this in the Coronavirus topic.

simplyredder · 07/03/2020 15:47

@SavoyCabbage there's a corona virus topic ? Grin
I did not realise

Yabu for putting it in Aibu

adaline · 07/03/2020 15:59

Everyone is posting stuff like this and I feel like I'm in a parallel universe!

Fully stocked shelves everywhere here.

dementedpixie · 07/03/2020 16:01

I haven't seen any sanitizer and shelves are mostly empty of handwash

ShirleyPhallus · 07/03/2020 16:02

Omg post on one of the other 18000 already on this and on the right topic board!

JulietTango · 07/03/2020 16:03

But surely people were washing their hands before this. It's a bit worrying how many people weren't if they're suddenly deciding to wash their hands now.

dementedpixie · 07/03/2020 16:03

I did buy myself some toilet roll the other day but that's because we needed some, not because I'm stockpiling. Glad I got my mum handwash midweek as you cant get any now. She's in her 70s with COPD and doesnt get out much

TheMustressMhor · 07/03/2020 16:03

Not another thread about this.

chipsandpeas · 07/03/2020 16:03

apart from hand sanitiser my local supermarket was fully stocked today

spongejack · 07/03/2020 16:04

Help me!!!!! So many threads saying the same thing!! I can't cope!!!

"Runs away screaming"

Gadgnkk · 07/03/2020 16:04

Are you honestly surprised when there's a virus spreading globally that's killing people?

ChristmasFlint · 07/03/2020 16:04

The government has asked people to prepare to self isolate soooo they are!

WinterCat · 07/03/2020 16:04

I’m just back from my supermarket and it had all of those things in plentiful supply. I didn’t see any completely empty shelves although I’ve seen lots of comments on local Facebook sites about people struggling to get things, so maybe supplies are starting to come back in and people have realised how ridiculous it is to excessively panic buy.

BIWI · 07/03/2020 16:06

@adaline - SW London here. Big Sainbury's - no toilet paper whatsoever. Some antibac handsoap left, but not much. Hardly any dry pasta available. Pretty decimated shelf of cat food.

Large Tesco Extra at New Malden - absolutely no toilet roll whatsoever!

Perhaps you'd better let everyone know where you live so they can all flock there for their supplies? Grin

fiddledefiddle · 07/03/2020 16:06

Are you honestly surprised when there's a virus spreading globally that's killing people?

That happens all of the time, now is no different.

adaline · 07/03/2020 16:14

@BIWI - ha, we're in Cumbria Grin Everything is fully stocked.

ALDI, Wilkos, Tesco, Home Bargains, Pound Stretcher and B&M all had plenty of everything.

adaline · 07/03/2020 16:16

Are you honestly surprised when there's a virus spreading globally that's killing people?

I do think it's weird, especially when it's only in certain parts of the country. Where I am we have two (so far) diagnosed cases and no panic buying at all happening.

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 07/03/2020 16:16

There is nothing here! No home deliveries available for a week and the shelves are empty. It's ridiculous.

PlomBear · 07/03/2020 16:19

Just been to a Waitrose near the south coast and it’s fine.

KimMumsnet · 07/03/2020 16:27

Afternoon! We'll be moving this thread over to join its mates in the Coronavirus topic now.
Cheers.

Charlesthekingcavalier · 07/03/2020 16:32

I haven’t stockpiled one thing. It’s crazy and I blame the media.

Obi73 · 07/03/2020 16:33

Went shopping for bits and could buy (if I’d wanted to) everything the media is saying isn’t available. It’s scaremongering - taking advantage of the fears and worries of the population.

NeverTwerkNaked · 07/03/2020 19:00

DP popped to the supermarket for some bits for dinner and said all the shelves were full. But the next town away everyone is saying all the shelves for certain things are empty.

We had a Brexit cupboard and added to it again a couple of weeks ago when it was obvious where this was headed (even if the govt was downplaying it). But it is awful to see news photos of people loading up their trolley with far more than they could possibly use in several months.
But this is why preppers faced unfair derision. Far better to do what they do and gradually build up supplies in advance of an issue.

KoalasandRabbit · 07/03/2020 19:03

Ours was fine but today no hand gel or handwash and only 2 lots of toilet rolls, it's all the people stockpiling.
