The return of the bidet

Okay laydees, with all this bog roll panic, maybe it's time for the bidet to come into fashion in the UK?

When I bought my house one of the bathrooms had a bidet in and I thought oh I'll never use it. I use it occasionally to soak my feet in!!

Bidets are common in many other countries, so maybe the bidet needs to come back into fashion in the UK? What you think laydees?

If I had the money I would install a Japanese toilet. No need for a separate bidet - they have a wash function. And the heated seat is a bonus!

I find bidets a bit odd but it would certainly help.

Had our bathroom re-done last year and got rid of our 1990's bidet as it was never used (for the purpose it was intended anyway). I'm still not panicking over a toilet roll shortage !

We used to have a bidet a long time ago. I've been pondering an all in one toilet as of late like a pp, I wonder if they are more or less environmentally friendly than tons of toilet roll being manufactured and flushed?

UntamedWisteria · 07/03/2020 09:44

OP, I have no view on bidets, but there is another thread on MN at the moment slagging off people who use the word "laydees". Just thought you'd like to know. Wink

Are you a troll or a reporter ?

I need a bidet. My husband has ulcerative colitis. No toilet paper is a real fear. Bye bye socks Wink

madcatladyforever · 07/03/2020 10:05

I'd love a Japanese wash and go toilet, I don't think a lot of modern homes have bathrooms big enough to put a bidet in.
Idea for me as I have no room to stockpile toilet roll.

WorraLiberty · 07/03/2020 10:05

Well to answer your question Laydee, where are people supposed to find the money and the room to buy and install them?

picklemewalnuts · 07/03/2020 10:08

'Family cloths'- cut up and old t shirt into squares and use after a wee. That makes your loo roll go a lot further. You can put the used squares into a tub of vinegar and water, then just throw the lot in with your normal wash. Or just put in your normal wash without the soak.
