London marathon = will it go ahead?

So the London marathon is currently due to go ahead on April 26th. I believe it has around 43k runners (including lots of international runners), plus obviously all the spectators, Marshall’s etc. Rome and Paris have cancelled. Do people think the London marathon will go ahead?

DH was due to run it for the first time, he’s gutted. Not least because our DC1 is due in August and he’s nervous about committing to training again when it’s going to be so hot and we’re presumably both going to be battling through on minimal sleep 😬😔

Manchester marathon also postponed now.

Palace half marathon (Hampton court sw London) still seems to be going he’d 3500+ runners plus supporters etc. Absolute madness.

Ahead

Bath is still on and has about 12,000. I guess they could still cancel it but they're leaving it late!

Brighton marathon cancelled now too (postponed until September)

Bath is on.
I better get ready!

Yes, Bath is still on. I'm so glad I have to be away from there for a few days.

The Fleet HM was cancelled at the last minute this morning.

And the Edinburgh marathon which isn't until late May has now been postponed too.

Bath half has had so much negative publicity for going ahead. Only half the runners turned up and loads of charities withdrew their support for it. Even the MP said it shouldn't have gone ahead. Lots of people did a virtual half which is a much better idea.

SapphireSalute · 15/03/2020 14:45

Wouldn’t want to be training through summer!

London’s ballot will be affected now too

Oysterbabe · 15/03/2020 15:30

I enjoyed the half today, although it was a bit muted. I was surprised to see people still digging in to the communal buckets of jelly babies!
