School trip to France

Hello

I posted about this in another thread recently, but since noticed this topic.

My 10 year old son is due to go on a school trip to Normandy in France in less than 2 weeks time. They are travelling by coach/channel tunnel not plane.

At this stage the school still plan to go ahead with the trip, but I wondered what people here think about it. It's not so much that I worry he will be more at risk of catching the virus in France than here, but that they could get stuck there if restrictions on travel come into place.

I haven't heard that any other parents are considering not allowing their child to go (DS would be devastated, he's never been abroad before and is sooooo excited), but am starting to feel uneasy...

Thank you :)

So, the school still plans to go ahead with the trip unless government advice on travelling is changed between now and Monday, when they are due to go.

We will not get our money back (over £300) unless government advice changes.

It seems as though stricter guidelines on self isolation for anyone with cold/flu type symptoms in the UK are looming. Possibly, by Monday, any child with a sniffle may have to isolate and not be able to go on the trip anyway -- out of a group of 60 children, this is bound to effect some of them! My son is actually showing mild cold symptoms today...

I don't currently plan to pull him out of the trip as I don't feel he's at significantly more risk if he goes than if he stays, although the risk of him being quarantined (either here or in France) seems to be increasing.

How's everyone else feeling about school trips abroad this week?

My sons school have not gone. I thought France had stopped all trips. This is insane.

France have stopped all trips (home and abroad) for French children, but not for children visiting from overseas. It seems like madness. First confirmed case in our (smallish) town today...

@Blackink. That’s the most insane thing I have ever heard.

My daughter is due to go on a ski trip to France, near the Swiss border, in a week. At the moment they are planning to go but a part of me hopes they won't in case she gets stuck over there
