In a week. Attending an event with 30k attendees (organisers say its still going ahead)

Not booked yet but his mates have. I don't want to be a downer but just seems super worrying to me.

What do you think?

I'd be totally fine, but then I'm just back from a jolly in Seville.

Cinammoncake · 03/03/2020 16:32

Will it be any different risk from here? I'd try not to worry too much. Just remind him to wash his hands at the airport

BillieEilish · 03/03/2020 16:35

I live here. Despite pictures you may see in the news, zero impact and less than the UK I believe.

Airport... be careful abt washing hands etc.

FatTablets · 03/03/2020 16:36

Well here he wouldn't be passing through a building that thousands of people from all over the world have visited and also be in a crowd of 30k people. Surely that's where the risk lies? The integration with all those other people?

He wouldn't do that at home.

Fine. I've just come back from Tenerife.

BillieEilish · 03/03/2020 16:42

I suppose it's not ideal to be travelling right now, when you put it like that.

Is he adamant that he needs to go?

Pipandmum · 03/03/2020 16:53

More of a risk going through the airport than actually being in Barcelona I would imagine. He needs to be vigilant in his hand washing. Chip and pin machines and those security x ray bins are particular harbours of bugs.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 03/03/2020 17:02

I'd be jealous I am not going as well (on a separate jolly).

If you are struggling with 3 or 4 young children, you could explain that you'd be stuck if he gets put in quarantine, that would be my only worry.
It's unlikely that the entire airport is at risk, any more than tube passengers.

MyHairIsSoapy · 03/03/2020 17:03

I wouldn’t go though an airport, and I f one person in that crowd has it, the 15 around them will have it etc etc

FatTablets · 03/03/2020 17:21

I don't want to go anywhere in the middle of this!

Growingboys · 03/03/2020 17:23

I think fine. This bug is going to be around for a long time.

ElderAve · 03/03/2020 17:26

I don't think there's anymore risk to his health than there would be attending similar at home or using public transport. The risk for me would be of getting stranded if he wasnt able/allowed to travel home but as PP said this isn't going to be over for months, we can't all stay at home for the duration
