A family member of mine wants to drive to Europe this week through calais from Dover for a one day booze run.

Does anyone know if there are extra checks / delays at calais because of Coronavirus?

Is is advisable to drive through France right now?

No, all those people on the ferry, some coming back from skiing in Italy etc. How much do you save on a booze run? It seems pretty cheap in the supermarkets here, not worth it

I've not heard anything. Check the euro tunnel or ferry website. Driving in your own car poses no additional risk. Just wash hands. If you're going to City Europe there are plenty of loos.

I can't see how it would be any less risky than getting public transport to work, which millions of people across Europe are doing every day.

I went last week on the tunnel. Every car was swabbed for explosives on the way out. Every car was swabbed again on the way back, and armed French soldiers checked the boot of every car. So that slowed things up.

However, I don’t think that was anything to do with coronavirus and more to do with threat level and checking for migrants.

depends what is being bought and who from. There are significant savings if you know where to buy from.
