I saw this posted on social media. Doesn't seem to be much focus on individuals like him, brave enough to raise his voice, executed for sheltering others. 😥

🚨TRAGIC: While the world focuses on other conflicts, the Islamic Republic of Iran executed a 19-year-old boy today.

His name is Erfan Esfandiari. He was his parents’ only child.

He did not kill anyone. He did not carry a weapon. His only “crime,” according to the regime, was opening his door to shelter protesters fleeing from security forces.

Erfan was one of 12 young men charged in the Alikhani Square case in Isfahan after being arrested during the January 2026 uprising. Yesterday, all 12 were moved to quarantine. Today, the regime hanged him.

This is a government so afraid of a generation that refuses to stay silent that it executes teenagers for showing basic compassion.

Say his name. The regime is trying to erase him. His grieving parents are left with nothing — not even the freedom to mourn openly.

He's not the only one, sadly.

Amnesty report that since 28th February, the Iranian authorities have arbitrarily executed at least 36 individuals in politically motivated cases, including 14 people arrested in connection to the nationwide protests in January 2026.

And at least 78 more protesters, dissidents and others accused of having links to banned opposition groups are under sentence of death, including 41 people arrested in connection to the January 2026 protests.

At least five of them were children at the time of the alleged offence.

What an evil regime and their evilness continues in other countries as well as their own.

The older I get, the more amazed I am that I had the good luck to be born in the UK.

It’s a reminder that the rights and justice system that we have were fought for and that we must protect them. I very much used to take them for granted.

CNN July 15th : Iran ramps up execution of political prisoners amid war with US, human rights data shows

The Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights (IHR), a non-governmental organization with members inside and outside Iran, has been documenting cases ... and believes the regime has ramped up executions under the cover of conflict.

On Wednesday, IHR decried the execution of Mohammad Amini Dehaghani, arrested for taking part in January protests and sentenced to death following what the rights group believes to have been “an unfair trial.” So far this year, the regime has executed at least 47 political prisoners, a massive increase from 16 around the same time last year.

When the US and Iran signed a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding on June 17, there was no mention of protesters, persecuted dissidents or human rights. At the same time, as it held discussions with the US, Iran had already begun ramping up executions, human rights groups say.

“While the attention of the international community was on the war, the Iranian regime saw this as an opportunity to execute political prisoners because under normal circumstances these executions lead to international condemnation and they have a high political cost,” IHR director Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam told CNN.

With each execution, the regime sends a chilling message: we’re still in charge, and dissent will not be tolerated.

It's not perfect but when you see what goes on in other countries ... as you say we shouldn't take our rights and justice system for granted.

UN says it’s ‘alarmed’ by surge in Iran executions since March

At least 56 people have been executed in Iran on national security-related charges since March 19, including 27 in cases linked to protests at the start of the year, says United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk.

“I am alarmed by the rise in executions and death sentences issued in Iran since March, and that capital punishment continues to be used to instil fear among the population and suppress dissent,” Turk says in a statement.

Iranian authorities killed thousands of people during anti-government protests in January, Iran’s worst domestic unrest in decades.

Turk says more than 100 people face the risk of execution on similar security-related charges, while executions for drug-related offenses are also continuing at an “alarming rate.”

He urges Tehran to halt all executions and move toward abolishing the death penalty, and raises concerns about what he described as failures to uphold fair trial and due process.

Dreadful to hear. Erfan and so many like him assassinated by the corrupt despotic Iranian regime. The UN is alarmed at the executions... just words. The criminal ' government' that kills its own children needs bringing down.
