Iran’s embassy in Britain urges expats to become ‘martyrs’

Tehran’s embassy in London is recruiting Iranian expats in the UK to “sacrifice their lives for the homeland” in the Middle East.

Diplomats at the consulate urged “all brave and noble children of Iran” residing in Britain to sign up to the war effort programme “for the people’s defence of the land”.

On its official Telegram channel, the embassy said: “Let us all willingly give our lives. It is better than giving the country to the enemy.”

Officials called on “proud Iranian compatriots residing in Britain” to register for its “Jan Fada” – “sacrificing life” – programme. The post has sparked concerns over British national security.

Fucking hell, this place 🤣
Why do people on here always twist themselves in knots to avoid acknowledging the obvious.

”Oh alll those thumbs up? Couldn’t possibly people who like the message. It mUSt bE rAciSts iMAgiNinG dEaD IrANiAns”

I didn't say "must" I said "could". My comment is aimed at reassuring the OP that emojis don't actually mean anything IRL and can mean different things to different people using them anyway. I'm not tying myself in knots about anything. Including knots about a bunch of pixels on a webpage.

The Iranian regime are straight-up apocalyptic religious lunatics.

I can't imagine many Iranian exiles in the UK listening to this. There's a reason why they're exiles.

Edited

They do appear to be apocalyptic, but what % of the population agree with that will be difficult to know, given the problems with polling.

Article here I found on it. But there is a problem with this article:

The Eschatological Vision Behind Iran’s Hatred of Israel: A Shia Messianic War (4timorr.org)

The problem with the article is the author: "Tim Orr is a scholar of Islam, Evangelical minister,". An evangelical. so he is also apocalyptic.

Here is a similar article from the Times of Israel. This article shares some of the same references as above.

The Blogs: Iran’s War Against Israel: The Shia Eschatological Vision & Messianic Conflict | Tim Orr | The Times of Israel

I myself am atheist, so this is all nonsense to me. But there is a compounding problem here in that the current Whitehouse admin are also apocalyptic. Hegseth for example has clearly made this out to be a "holy" war of some sort. Hegseth is a rapturist. A lot of US evangelism is about how for their Jesus to come back the Temple in Jerusalem has to be rebuilt for the Book of Revelation to happen. Then Jesus will come back, big battle, and the "good" go upstairs.

Another Times of Israel article on Hegseth. From 2024

Trump's nominee for Pentagon chief suggested new temple could be built on Temple Mount | The Times of Israel

While that article does not say exactly why he wants the temple rebuilt, you don't need to go far to find why. It's to bring the apocalypse.

How to solve this ? No idea.

The Eschatological Vision Behind Iran’s Hatred of Israel: A Shia Messianic War

They fail to acknowledge that Iran’s war against Israel is not a political struggle but a religious war rooted in Twelver Shia eschatology—a theology that exalts death, martyrdom, and the creation of chaos as a path to ushering in the end of the world...

Wish we could have a set of totally secular world governments. But religion is about control and goes hand in hand with power seeking so we have to live with these nutters and their impacts.

It's not all about control though. People do really believe this stuff.

So do I.

Religion brings so many problems. Cynical people use religion to control other people, I don't believe the leaders personally believe in Heaven & Hell or they would be terrified about their own fate.
