On the one hand this seems invented by the Kremlin, on the other, who knows if its true

This board of peace is utter bullshit. Where's the representation from the PA? Other Arab countries? Why is it mainly rich white Americans who've likely never even visited Gaza? And where's the outrage? Or am I totally misunderstanding?
I don't believe Putin has been invited to join. Russian BS.

Assume It’s a joke?

Twiglets1 · 19/01/2026 21:55

When I first read this I thought it was a spoof. But who knows with Trump.

No idea.
The Kremlin made the claim. Who knows if Trump invited him or not.
Very odd claim though.

Apparently, the board of peace will have Trump as President for life and there is a $1billion (cash) membership fee

Its absolutely 100% clear this board doesn't have Palestinian long term future best interests at heart. I'm surprised there isnt more noise about this.

spitofyou · 20/01/2026 07:41

Apparently this is true.

Tony Blair who is responsible for most of the destabilisation of the Middle East and now Putin.

Trump has fully lost it.

Holding Tony Blair solely responsible for "most of the destabilisation of the Middle East" seems to be letting a lot of authoritarian regimes & terrorist groups off the hook.

He has some responsibility to bear but "most" of the destabilisation in the whole of the ME?? That's hyperbole and an attempt to blame a western white man for the evils of extremist Islamic terror groups.

I think the Iran leadership is responsible for more of it if you consider all the wars they have caused or funded through their connections to Hamas, Hezbollah & the Houthis.

Apparently it's true.

President Donald Trump has confirmed he invited Vladimir Putin to join a US-proposed Gaza "Board of Peace".

Asked on Monday if he had invited Putin to join the Board of Peace, Trump told reporters in Florida: "Yes [...] these are world leaders. The answer is yes, I did."

So far, no Palestinian names have been included on the senior boards.

Meanwhile, Israel has voiced objections to the proposed boards, saying it was not consulted in their functions and makeup.

Reports suggest Trump wants the board formally ratified by world leaders during a special ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this week.

Putin invited to join US-led Gaza 'Board of Peace', Trump says

Neither the Kremlin nor the US president has confirmed whether Putin has accepted the offer.

Not just 1B fee but he’s blackmailing Macron. Fining French wine and champagne till he agrees.
I’m secretly hoping Carney is suddenly too busy…
Who pays this 1B fee? Personal or governmental?
All kinds of wrong, Trump is such hard work, distracting entire governments from the work of helping their electorate.

Bringemout · 20/01/2026 15:44

They should have just handed it over to anyone with a stable non Muslim Brotherhood aligned party. Pretty much anyone else other than the lot he’s managed to sign up. The UAE has signed up which is good. I saw something about how it’s intended to replace the UN or some such shit. Disaster waiting to happen tbh.

I don’t agree that it’s necessary that it has to be mostly arab though. You want people with a track record of running successful countries with good security and strong institutions if they want anything close to a functional Gaza for actual Gazan civilians.

No blame at all on regimes, dictators and terrorists. 🙄

There must be surely.

Perhaps some of the pro Pals could name some as none come to mind apart from that son of Hamas who now speaks against Hamas. He's probably no more popular with most Palestinians that western leaders though.

Son of Hamas might be a good choice. He tells how it was and what damage they did to him, others and for Palestinians !

Need someone like him so no going back to terrorism

’Board of Peace’ is nonsense, should be renamed ‘Bored of Peace’. 🙄

Whatever its called, someone needs to run the place until ready for Palestinians to run themselves. Anything but Hamas.

Not too many Arab or Muslim majority countries coming forward to help
