Conflict in the Middle East

I also read this (posted by tmjnewsnetwork on social media- so no idea about reliability):

“Leonardo DiCaprio is facing widespread criticism after reports surfaced that he is co-financing a luxury hotel near Tel Aviv, Israel, amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The 51,000-square-metre eco-certified resort at Herzliya Marina, recently approved by Israeli authorities, will feature 14 floors, 365 rooms, and various amenities including a conference centre and fine dining.

DiCaprio, a UN Messenger for Peace, reportedly holds a 10% stake in the project alongside The Hagag Group and investors Ahikam and Lior Cohen. Originally announced in 2018 as a smaller development, the project has since expanded significantly. As the conflict in Gaza intensifies, DiCaprio's involvement in the venture has sparked a backlash online, with critics questioning the ethics of investing in Israeli luxury real estate during a time of mass civilian suffering and international concern over potential human rights violations.”

@Wedonttalkaboutboris It is true - it's all over the internet from reliable sources.

It’s hard to look at what’s happening and not see a clear pattern. Palestinians are being forced off their land, their homes destroyed, their communities blockaded and meanwhile, others are profiting massively from the land and resources left behind. I don’t believe this is about security- it’s a systematic erasure of people combined with economic gain.

I’ve noticed that trend too - some threads are just so damning the Israel social media mob like to ignore them to try and get them to slip down the board while keeping their “But Hamas” threads up and running with links to pro Israel groups putting out unsubstantiated reports that lack any evidence to show it’s Hamas that force Israel to murder kids and sure those kids were all terrorists anyway.

There are some who believe Netanyahu took 6 hours to send military on October 7th because it kept him in power. People who knew Netanyahu before he came to power have said that he has always aspired to take over the rest of Palestine along with parts of Syria, Gordan etc… He has talked since his youth about achieving Greater Israel at any cost. I strongly believe he is a sociopath who doesn’t care about Palestinians or Israeli hostages, he only cares about achieving his goals and making money, he doesn’t care who is killed for it.

Agree

its not just those that knew Netanyahu though that knew he wanted Gaza for Israel. he presented it as his goal at the UN General Assembly in September 2023 with a map aswell with the word Israel plastered everywhere

It’s not like he was hiding his intentions all along !!

He took October 7th as the opportunity he was seeking to get what he’d wanted all along. Nothing was ever going to stop that, even the return of hostages. Israeli supporters who think this are deliberately ignoring his real intentions

Exactly!

Interesting to note too that some prolific posters haven’t clicked on this thread!

Same as the Hind post though. Why do you want to engage them?

Their derailing, plus everyone responding to them - thus giving them the attention and derailment they crave - puts many off posting.

The usual ones don't stop. They would give up if ignored - surely, maybe. Because as certain as night follows day, they won't change their minds, so why respond!?

They are best off ignored, but I'm not sure everyone knows they're not posting in good faith. It's an easy trap to fall into. Only one or two genuinely believe what they're posting.

You are sincere. But what I see is the same posters, again and again, posting in utterly bad faith, whose sole aim is to upset and derail.

It is hard to engage and contribute. Because as long as the same culprits are given attention, I believe many of us won't bother. I speak as someone who reads this board, but sees the same names deliberately sh!tting over the facts presented.

Very true.

Maybe we should just all stay on here and discuss!

There was a good article in Haaretz about the real estate bonanza and how Netanyahu hadn’t disclaimed what Smotrich had said. I put it on another thread but can’t remember which one. Maybe the genocide one.

Sorry @FreeTheOakTree that did not follow logically from your post which I quoted by mistake.
