US confirms plan for private firms to deliver Gaza aid despite UN alarm

The US has confirmed that a new system for providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza through private companies is being prepared, as Israel's blockade continues for a third month.

US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said "distribution centres" protected by security contractors would provide food and other supplies to over a million people initially, as part of an effort to prevent Hamas stealing aid.

He denied Israel would take part in aid delivery or distribution, but said its forces would secure the centres' perimeters.

It comes as details emerged about the controversial plan, which UN agencies have reiterated they will not co-operate with because it appears to "weaponize" aid.

Reuters: Israel's military said in a statement it was looking into reports that Palestinians had been shot at an aid distribution site but that it was unaware of injuries caused by military fire. GHF denied anyone had been killed or injured near their site in Rafah and that all of its distribution had taken place without incident.

The U.S. company accused Hamas of fabricating "fake reports".

The Hamas-run Gaza government media office said Israel has turned the distribution sites into "death traps" for people desperate to get some aid.

If Isrsel had in foreign media there would be no reason for speculation right now on what happened. It has become increasingly clear what they attempt to hide from the world.

Twiglets1 · 01/06/2025 11:34

Makes you wonder though - why would Israel sabotage the success of their own aid distribution units by attacking civilians trying to reach them?

It's not logical. Personally, I find it more feasible that as the US company have said, Hamas and their supporters are fabricating this news.

Gaza is a war zone and people are getting killed and injured daily. But there is no reason that I can see why Israel would be targeting these aid distribution units. Quite the opposite - they want to be able to say they are a success.

So the doctors are lying about the dead bodies coming into the hospital and the footage verified by the BBC being near the opened hub with hundreds of people running and gunshot in the background is all made up?

It's very true that the news we get out of Gaza is distorted because we are relying on news from the Hamas-run government media office and Palestinian journalists who may well be biased.

In terms of propaganda, Hamas are experts.

We are also relying on the Israeli government and the IDF who are no strangers to repeatedly lying despite being often caught out on their lies.

Whatsinanamehey · 01/06/2025 11:44

They don't learn though and carry on lying until something emerges which disproves their lies.

No I'm not saying the doctors are lying. Gaza is a war zone. I'm saying Hamas are trying to say that people were killed/injured because they were walking towards the aid distribution site whereas they were more likely to have been caught up in a general unconnected incident.

GHF denied anyone had been killed or injured near their site in Rafah and that all of its distribution had taken place without incident.

Ultimately, who do we believe? Hamas or the US company? Again I don't see why the US company or Israel would sabotage their own centres whereas Hamas have a vested interest in scaring Gazans away from using them.

This is from the British surgeon Victoria Rose who is working in Nasser hospital

"We've had a shooting at the GHF aid distribution centre near Rafah," she says, adding: "It's absolute carnage here."
Rose says many injured people were taken from the site to local field hospitals.
"But we have had an extortionate amount of people come through the door," she says, adding locals quote figures between 100 and 200.
The injuries are all gunshot wounds, she adds.

Whatsinanamehey · 01/06/2025 11:46

Is she also lying about the gunshot wounds?

Well I won't dispute that many lies have been told on both sides in this war. But you do have to ask: who benefits from the lie?

In this case it is very much more to Hamas's benefit than Israel's if the local people become too scared to use these aid distribution sites. Israel would look very foolish if their new method fails, more people would go hungry, more pressure on Israel from the international community to concede to Hamas demands in order to end the war.

Again, I'm not saying any doctors are lying about gunshot wounds or other injuries. What I'm saying is we do not know who caused these injuries or exactly where it happened. Civilians are getting killed on a daily basis in Gaza.

Was it connected to the aid distribution centre or not? Other reports have said it was close to the centre but Victoria Rose said we've had a shooting at the aid distribution centre. She wasn't there, she was at the hospital. The US company personnel who were at the distribution centre said it didn't happen there.

It's important to note that the IDF haven't actually denied carrying out gunfire explicitly. All they have said is they are not aware of any fatalities so posters saying why would the IDF sabotage etc might not have seen that they haven't openly denied it.

Whatsinanamehey · 01/06/2025 12:34

They have purposefully left it ambiguous.

Of course she’s not lying about the gunshot wounds if she saw them. Is it beyond your capabilities to understand that she will report what she’s told but that doesn’t mean she’s been told the truth?

The US staff are trained together with the IDF to step back, fire warning warning shots, retreat and let people take the aid (and whatever else they want) as happened on the first day that Hamas sent in rioters.

The videos I’ve seen over the last few days show a very calm, efficient aid handover with positive responses from Gazans which Hamas is now ramping up the propaganda to fight against as expected.

Of course Hamas has attacked their own people and blamed Israel.

How people still fall for their disgusting propaganda, that just perpetrates this war and strengthens the resolve of these evil monsters, is beyond me but we know why they do.

Better to believe demonic terrorist scum than Jews, right?

They haven't purposely left it ambiguous.

The Israeli military have said they are “currently unaware of injuries caused by (Israeli military) fire within the humanitarian aid distribution site” and that “The matter is still under review.”

GHF claims videos from dawn show nobody hurt at Gaza aid site; AP says shooting incident occurred at 3 a.m.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation issues videos ostensibly showing that no Palestinian civilians were shot this morning at one of their aid distribution sites in the southern Gaza Strip, after Hamas authorities reported 31 dead in the area this morning.

“As noted in our daily report earlier, aid was distributed without incident. Reports of injuries and fatalities are completely false and fabricated,” the Israel- and US-backed GHF says in a statement, attaching around 15 minutes of footage from the distribution site after dawn.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says the deaths occurred as Israeli forces fired on a crowd gathered at the aid site.

AP cites eyewitnesses as saying that the incident occurred before dawn, as thousands marched toward the aid site. Israeli troops had ordered them to disperse and come back later, and as the crowds arrived at a roundabout around a kilometer away at 3 a.m., the IDF opened fire, the witnesses say.

Where have you seen that? It seems like a bit of a stretch to claim it happened AT a distribution site, which is clearly what global media has been reporting, and then alter the claim when it’s been proven false (GHF footage).

Disgusting morons.

Twiglets1 · 01/06/2025 14:52

@AIBUHere It’s being reported in the Times of Israel ( see the link above that I posted at 13.48)

Seemed hard to believe it would have happened AT a distribution site, as you say. Especially as the US officials denied straight away that it happened there.

Times of Israel are normally a reliable source.

It's almost like you can't trust barbaric terrorist scum to tell the truth.

Honestly now, it's not like Hamas would have a vested interest in scaring Palestinian civilians away from aid distribution centres. Especially not now they are starting to turn against them.

Hamas would never lie.

They would never shoot their own people and drop them off at a hospital with some bulshit story.

No no, all the useful idiots have very cleverly seen through this Jewish plot for peace.

Well done 🙄

Twiglets1 · 01/06/2025 15:58

Who could we said to be impartial or independent in this case though @Martymcfly24 ?

The UN are not impartial, neither are the Hamas backed media or the Hamas run Gaza health ministry. Neither are the IDF.

Even local witnesses can't be assumed to be telling the truth as they may be Hamas supporters.
