Conflict in the Middle East

One of the highest daily death rates for children 18th March

rentmum · 19/03/2025 09:37

On March 18, 2025, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza resulted in over 400 Palestinian deaths, including 174 children, according to health authorities in Gaza.
The Guardian
This tragic event represents one of the highest single-day child death tolls in recent conflicts.

For context, during the Ukraine conflict between February 2022 and June 2023, an average of three children were killed or injured daily, with March 2022 being the deadliest month, recording over 240 child fatalities and 260 injuries.
Save the Children UK
This indicates that the single-day child casualties reported in Gaza on March 18, 2025, are significantly higher than those documented in Ukraine during its most lethal periods.

Similarly, over the past decade, conflicts worldwide have resulted in an average of 25 child casualties per day, encompassing both deaths and injuries.
Save the Children International
The 174 child deaths reported in Gaza on March 18, 2025, starkly exceed this daily average, underscoring the exceptionally high child casualty rate on that day.

In summary, the child fatalities reported in Gaza on March 18, 2025, are among the highest recorded in a single day in recent conflicts, highlighting the severe impact on children in this escalation.

Maybe because some of them are committed to the anihilation of the State of Israel, call for jihad on London streets, (they have been warned about that) shouting anti-semetic abuse and refuse to abide by Police requests for their protests.?

Maybe the Palestinians find Israel a threat because some of them are actually you know proving they are committed to the annihilation of the state of Palestine, and yes Palestine is a state

I'm going to disengage because discussions are only possible with mutual respect and as I said I cannot respect a poster that would come on this thread with those words
I have seen so many videos today of the beautiful children that have been sacrificed for evil men fighting so it's time to bow out with them for my own mental health.

It's horrendous and yet some people are so devoid of any decency or humanity that they can't even spare a tiny bit of compassion for dead children because they are Palestinian. Don't let the trolls get to you and look after yourself 🫂

It seems that is the case

Firstly, Palestine is not recognised as a 'State'

Secondly, Hamas have already said they do not want to govern Gaza " Hamas’s goal is not to run Gaza and to bring it water and electricity and such,” said Mr. al-Hayya, the politburo member. “Hamas, the Qassam and the resistance woke the world up from its deep sleep and showed that this issue must remain on the table.”
“This battle was not because we wanted fuel or labourers,” he added. “It did not seek to improve the situation in Gaza. This battle is to completely overthrow the situation.”
“I hope that the state of war with Israel will become permanent on all the borders, and that the Arab world will stand with us,” Taher El-Nounou, a Hamas media adviser, told The New York Times.

So war is what Hamas wants and the Israelis are obliging them.

Indeed. Palestine is not a “state”. It’s a State.

LoyalAquaOtter · 20/03/2025 20:36

@Switcher Where did you get the impression from that the number of dead was counted in 'minutes' . It's a bit strange that both you and another poster who agrees that this is 'amazing' have heard this. As far as I was aware this was news that emerged over 24 hours, is that not correct? If you could provide evidence for your claim that Hamas counted the children Israel killed 'in minutes' that would be great otherwise your post comes across like you are denying child murder which would explain why you came onto about almost 200 childrens deaths and showed no sympathy at all towards the victims.

Flamingpantoufles · 20/03/2025 20:42

It's simply appalling that these children are dying in this way and that even acknowledging or mourning their deaths is so often met with 'yes but'

Seeing the same reports too.

Just more evil, Netanyahu and all the people that vocally or silently endorse his actions even though they "don't support him" or "didn't vote for him" are in for a reckoning like no other in the future.

Even die hard Trump supporters are turning after the images of burned children in the last few days.

Whatsinanamehey · 23/03/2025 20:09

Hospitals that are still running are already struggling beyond comprehension due to so many injured from the bombing and lack of supplies that Israel has blocked. How evil are they to bomb hospitals despite this. The sheer barbarity is unfathomable. I wonder if Israeli media report on what their government and soldiers are doing in Gaza in their names.

Dr Tanya who some might know and other American doctors are reportedly in the hospital. Has this been reported anywhere in our main stream news?

BelleHathor · 23/03/2025 20:34

Well there has been talk of a "civil war" in Israel over the last couple of weeks, which represents a deepening split between Israelis who see and know what they're doing in the region, how it looks to the wider world and realise that it's likely they'll never be forgiven and Israeli's who believe that October 7th justifies Netanyahu's actions and any criticism is down to antisemitism, they don't appear to realise the growing actual dislike for Israel across the World.
From Israeli TV last week:
https://x.com/KhalilAsslan/status/1903174323164139647
"Guy Peleg, a senior legal affairs correspondent for Israel’s Channel 12 News & a prominent voice in Israeli media, issues a stark warning on air with some of the harshest words possible:
“On this difficult evening, there’s no choice but to say that Netanyahu & his government are the greatest threat to the security of the State of Israel. They are the most serious danger to Israel’s security.”

Almog Boker distances himself from that definition, but Guy Peleg explains:
“Hamas cannot bring down the State of Israel. Hezbollah cannot bring down the State of Israel. Syria cannot bring down the State of Israel. On this evening, we must say: the one who can bring down Israel as a democratic state is the Prime Minister of Israel.”

An Arab Jewish Israeli I follow left Israel with his family last year as he saw the dark path society was heading down openly on the world stage and he didn't want it to affect his humanity. He wrote:

"What I envision (and it may cause you to scratch your head at how easy and lightweight this is) is a time and place where I could meet, for just a moment, someone who has been a child, a parent, or a sibling in Gaza during this genocide (or any other time since Israel’s establishment, for that matter).

I don’t know where or when this meeting will take place: it may be in Barcelona, Hong Kong, Oakland, New York, or Cairo. It could be a year or twenty years from now. I don’t know who I’ll meet either: a young or old man or woman, someone still broken by what they experienced, or someone who made a beautiful healing journey.

All I know is it will happen, and I will meet them, and shake their hand. And when I do, at that moment which I know will happen, I want to be able to look them in the eye and say, without words: my brother, my sister, I tried. I did not remain silent. Your pain and sacrifice, and the pain and sacrifice of your people do not mean nothing, and I share your pain and your humanity.

Why I do This - Why I talk so Much About Gaza's Genocide

As an Israeli, it would be much more convenient to shut up. But I can't

I don't really go much on X but I did see a couple of tweets from Alon at the start of the war. I didnt know he left Israel but I know he was one of the few outspoken Israelis against the actions of the government and the IDF.

I haven't seen it on the MSM yet, just reported by the Geopolitical accounts I follow:
https://x.com/muhammadshehad2/status/1903908295536255093

Israel just bombed a key Gazan hospital under the pretext of targeting a wounded politician (non-combatant) while he was on a hospital bed receiving life saving care
^^
If Russia did this, under the same pretext, the Western world would condemn this nonstop as a “terror attack”!

Mr Morgan McGonagle an Irish doctor (trauma and vascular surgeon) is currently in the hospital in theatre performing surgeries but one of the surgical units is on fire.
He was interviewed on Irish radio last week .Praying he makes it out ok.

Of course it's a war crime to bomb a hospital to kill a patient, no matter who that patient is. I doubt Israel would be pleased if someone to bombed a hospital to kill Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir or IDF soldiers.

I hope he's ok! Other international doctors (from the US) that were working there are Dr. Mark Perlmutter, Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, and Dr. Tanya Haj Hassan. I know that Dr. Feroze Sidhwa is ok, but I don't know about the others. 😢 Apparently Dr. Perlmutter and Dr Sidhwa were interviewed by CNN earlier that day.

Dr Feroze posted this

I was at Nasser Hospital in #Gaza when it was bombed today. One of my patients, a 17-year-old boy, was killed. He would have gone home tomorrow. If I had been changing his dressings, as I planned to this evening, I probably would have been killed too. Attacking hospitals is a war crime, and it needs to stop.

@VolcanoJapan

Your response is shocking.

The op posted a factual post about Israel murdering the most amount of children in one night in any recent conflict.

174 children.

We have a leader of Israel saying he needs to have all of his kidnapped citizens currently held as hostage released immeadiately and also eradicate Hamas to protect his people and a terrorist organisation that run Gaza who took and continue to hold hostages who have wrecked their country. In the middle are innocent people.

So Israel is just trying to protect it's citizens and Hamas has wrecked the country. The narrative is failing when Israel launch a surprise middle of the night attack on bloody children and broke a ceasefire to do it.

Disgusting.

To be fair, Volcano said

In the middle are innocent people.

Now involved is the POTUS who makes rash statements and threats. The whole situation is a mess.

I personally felt that VolcanoJapan was not disagreeing that innocent Palestinian children had been killed, and that VJ acknowledges ‘the whole thing’ is wrong/a mess.
