Conflict in the Middle East

Palestinians are finally returning to the North.

The North of Gaza faced a brutal siege for many months. So many were killed and injured. Every single hospital in the north was attacked. The Palestinians in the north of Gaza were forcibly displaced whilst under attack with the threat of death. Entire neighbourhoods have been decimated.

Amongst the horrors of war, there are small moments of joy. From all the gloom and despair i wanted to share this glimpse of joy. The young children singing their national songs whilst undertaking the journey on foot back to the north. This is the face of Palestinian resilience.

God love them. Ordinary people who just want to be left in peace to get on with their lives. But its all been wrecked by megalomaniac men.

Thank you. I have sadly seen and read so much where the Palestinians have been demonised as a whole. I dont really know how to put in words but I just wanted to show that these are ordinary Palestinians who love their land.

So many families are being reunited after fifteen months of separation, not knowing if the other was even alive.

I stand with the Palestinians (not Hamas)

but I fear the road that lies ahead. Looks like ethnic cleansing is on the table. Gaza is just the perfect place for a lovely resort - let’s send the Palestinians to camps outside of Israel - out of sight and out of mind.

It is absolutely terrifying that Trump can boldly state this and there is no outcry. The war criminal Netanyahu must be popping the corks and celebrating.

It is concerning, as far as I can tell this call has been rejected by Egypt, Jordan and Palestinians. But I'm sure Trump will push for it as much as he can.

Gosh it's emotional. The BBC have got a live feed on it. Perhaps Trump et al should read this. These are the people of the land; The indigenous Palestinians.

"We’ve been speaking to displaced Gazans this weekend, asking them what they expected to find when they returned north.
"I want to go to my house and my land that I got raised in. My joy is being in my house - whether it’s standing or demolished," said 42-year-old Nirmeen Musabeh, who has been displaced since 11 October 2023.
"We don’t know what we will see except the wounds, but we need to go there. We need to go back."
Diab, a man displaced from Jabalia, said he was hoping to search for his sons and others who stayed behind.
"If anyone got killed or is still under the rubble, we want to take them out," he said.
"We want to go back to see what is left of the infrastructure and whether we can survive there or not.
"People are saying that with the level of destruction, there are no landmarks remaining. I want to see this with my own eyes."
Another man told us he expected to find mass destruction - but still wanted to "kiss the dirt of the north".

I just can't even express how I feel for those poor people who despite losing so much can still feel joy at being allowed back home. God bless them. I am also worried for the their future, I don't trust Trump or Netanyahu one bit.

The scenes from this morning shows it will not be easily achievable. Trump underestimates the love the Palestinians have for their land.

God help them when they see what they are returning back to. I have seen aerial images of the north and most of it is entirely rubble. Some war historians who compared it to the bombing of Dresden, such was the brutality and force of the campaign to destroy it. Not seen before this in modern times.

More ordnance was used to destroy Gaza than in the bombings of Dresden, Hamburg and London combined, and the damage exceeds that of nuclear weapons.

Scirocco · 27/01/2025 11:22

But people are returning home. And maybe we can get some more answers as they do - where are our missing loved ones? what happened to them? and will anyone in power now care enough to search for justice for the murdered innocent people?

minerva7 · 27/01/2025 12:02

This is just all so bloody tragic.

I pray the Palestinian are now left in peace to regroup and rebuild. Let them live their lives in peace and freedom, as we in the west have the luxury of doing.

minerva7 · 27/01/2025 12:04

I posted too soon. I had to stop watching the news some months ago as it was not good for my mental health. But hearing this gives me a glimmer of hope for the future.

I know peace in the Middle East is a long way from being reached... but let the Palestinians be there already. They have suffered more than enough.

Liv999 · 27/01/2025 13:39

My heart breaks for them going back home to piles of rubble, thankfully they are a very resilient people and will hopefully come back stronger from this eventually 💔
