Conflict in the Middle East
OP posts:

Disgraceful that these hate marches are still being allowed. Imagine any other country allowing the overt hate for the country you're standing in and those people not being arrested.

HowIrresponsible · 26/06/2024 17:48

You sound surprised?

Stars71 · 26/06/2024 19:04

The marches have served no purpose, other than to harrass people (trying) to go about their daily business. Shouting shame on you is futile and cowardly.

EmpressOfTheThread · 26/06/2024 19:05

Why are hate marches allowed?
I'm being serious, I genuinely don't understand.

Because the Met have to be appeasing.

EmpressOfTheThread · 26/06/2024 19:08

Surely then any hate group or proscribed organisation supporters (or their willing idiots) could also take to the streets of London?
That's a recipe for civil disorder.

Stars71 · 26/06/2024 19:31

Well under Labour, it could get a whole lot messier. I'm a fan of Starmer, though so will reserve judgement.

EmpressOfTheThread · 26/06/2024 19:34

I don't see how it can get messier? These marches have been going on for about nine months now, some people just behaving with impunity. Starmer rid Labour of the Corbynistas and the attendant antisemitism. Who knows. He may crack down on hate marches.

This article is from May and this march has already been discussed on these threads. Why have you reposted it?

I think some of the people commenting think it happened today.

What exactly is the time limit on what we can discuss?

No time limit but it was discussed on a different thread weeks ago why not add your thoughts to that thread why start a new one? Only reason I can see is to create division and stir things up.

It’s a legitimate protest just because you oppose the issue doesn’t give you the right to rebrand them hate marches.

Desperate times for them.

Vittuunterroristit · 26/06/2024 21:56

@mnhq Why is posting from pro-Hamas twitter allowed but pointing out that someone posts from pro-Hamas twitter not?

Do you seriously assume everyone empathising with the Palestinians is "pro-Hamas"

I thought we'd buried this nonsense months ago.

Did I say that?

AhNowTed · 26/06/2024 23:23

@Vittuunterroristit

In fairness, you spoke about "pro-Hamas twitter" (rather than poster), but since your post was deleted I've lost the gist of it and what you may have meant.

Happy to retract my comment.

At the risk of getting my post deleted again, I mentioned that a certain poster who questioned the motive of the OP has a tendancy to post links to pro-Hamas twitter accounts. I'm not sure whay part of that justifies your accusation.

79Helene · 27/06/2024 07:43

@Vittuunterroristit You were correct. The hypocrisy is unreal.

So it was likely deleted because you were referencing other threads which as far as I am aware is against talk guidelines
@79Helene I think both pro Palestinian and Israeli posters feel there is hypocrisy with what does and doesn't get deleted

Oh for sure, I would agree with this @Dulra. But I was actually referring to the hypocrisy of the poster not the deletion. I suppose everyone is a hypocrite really, but some people are in absolutely no position to be accusing others of starting threads to stir up trouble.

There seems to be a lack of consistency about what does and doesn't get deleted, which isn't helpful. I thought the rules were that you can't start/have a thread about a thread (TAAT), rather than referencing other threads per se? I also don't think it's helpful to lump people into 'pro Pal or Pro Israel', there's a lot more nuance.
