I really do think that too many protestors have overstepped the mark now and those marching with them have not done enough to keep them peaceful and non-threatening.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators chant 'Intifada revolution' at protest

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they had made at least one arrest of a man 'appearing to lead a chant' after climbing a traffic light during a demonstration

Of the ceasefire hold a the 'peace' marches will more likely show their true colours. Without a need to demand a ceasefire the protest is going to more likely pivot towards revenge. and highlight Palestinian demands for more territory. The true Hamas supporters are now coming to light.

What's happened re Jeremy and Piers Corbyn and John McDonnell?

In what sense?

There has been open support for terrorists since 7th October. When they call for “intifada” they are calling for more terrorist actions. When they say to globalise the intifada they mean terorist activity in Europe, like the narrowly averted atrocities at the taylor swift concert in Vienna. How many of went to or had friends and us daughters who went to the eras tour last year? They want them dead. These people hate us, hate our way of life, our democracy, our freedoms. Hate our Jewish friends and neighbours and want to see them dead.

why the army haven’t been called in, arrests made and people deported I have no idea. These people don’t respect dialogue, tolerance or kindness they only respect force and bite strength.

stomachamelon · 26/01/2025 20:38

@SharonEllis they were supposed to be interviewed by the police after the last march where they participated in breaking the order the police made.

I missed that. Would be good to know. McDonnell srems to think the Labour Party ought to let them back in.

call the army and water canons

They seem to have got more intimidating since the ceasefire. So ' ceasefire now' is not what they want now? It's almost as if they are annoyed that they might have to do something else with their Saturday afternoons.

Since you posted this I wondered. The story above says this

"This is the highest number of arrests we have seen, in response to the most significant escalation in criminality."

A full breakdown of the arrests is below:
65 x breach of conditions
5 x public order offences
2 x obstructing police
1 x support for a proscribed organisation
1 x inciting racial hatred
1 x common assault
1 x assault on an emergency worker
1 x sexual assault

Yes it just seemed an odd time to breach marching conditions ( which I think were something like not going to Broadcasting House or the nearby synagogue). Why choose the days after a negotiated ceasefire to break the conditions of a March unless it wasn't actually a mutual ceasefire you wanted, which is what KS had said- that you have to have a ceasefire on both sides. Must have not been what they wanted.

I agree. You'd want ceasefire to hold and negotiations to continue and hopefully move forward to a more sustainable peace agreement

I appreciate this is only my experience of walking through these marches, but peace or hostage release has always taken a back step to inciting hatred and terrorism support.

Flame me all you like, but it's been my experience.

It's been my experience too. Again, only my experience but some marches felt better than others. The one at the weekend had ramped up the shouting even though ceasefire in place at present, with suggestions of 'doing whatever it takes to free Palestine from the river to the sea' it felt like they were meaning violence but aware of how they might get arrested.

I agree.

I don't want Israeli people wiped out and I also don't want Palestinian people wiped out. I want a peaceful solution.

Daftasabroom · 27/01/2025 16:08

Because unlike many people - e.g. Palestinians in the West Bank, we don't live under martial law while the people who steal our homes live under civil law, we are not often subject to detention without trial, and deportation is all a bit 19thc.

The UK should have higher standards than that.

It's almost like it's nothing to do with a ceasefire?

stomachamelon · 27/01/2025 21:38

@Daftasabroom no one suggested any of that. I do believe though if you are a guest of another country you abide by their rules including not inciting hatred and following and promoting a prescribed terrorist organisation.

Breaking those rules week in week out should lead to you being asked to leave.

This has nothing to do with a ceasefire and all to do with targeted hatred.

The uk should have much higher standards than allowing that.

This. We have allowed the protests to escalate and I fear there will be consequences in the UK, in terms of another terror attack.

London last Saturday.

Where do they think Jews came from?

Where do they think Jews came from?

You NEVER get an answer when you ask that question.

Oodiks · 27/01/2025 22:57

I'm also thinking about the placard waver quoting an Iranian Imam and defending 'all Islamic lands'. Isn't that saying the quiet part out loud; it's not really about the 'Indigenous People' of 'Palestine' is it, it's about Islam vs Judaism.

I have been told Jews 'Come from' Europe, but when I ask how they came to be in Europe, I get told 'it's ancient history' and doesn't really matter.

Is there a reason indigenous people of Palestine is in quotation marks?

You're not arguing against the statement that it's about Islam vs Judaism?
