Interesting. Categories are LD (liberal democracy), ED (electoral democracy), EA (electoral autocracy) and CA (closed autocracy). Ranking explanations say that "+ indicates that the country could also belong to the higher category" and "- indicates that the country could also belong to the lower category".
Full LD countries are Australia, Belgium, Costa Rica, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Seychelles, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the USA.
UK is now LD-, as are Barbados, Bhutan, Canada, Chile, France, Italy, Norway, South Korea, Suriname, and Uruguay.
Israel was downgraded to ED+ last year, as were Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Lithuania, and Portugal, and Slovenia - joining Jamaica, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Namibia, and Vanuatu.
Several EU countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia) are ED and poor Hungary's EA .... along with Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, and the West Bank. Gaza is CA.
