It didn't make me cry.

I have huge amounts of sympathy for Palestinian citizens.

Write my name on my leg, Mama
Use the black permanent marker
with the ink that doesn’t bleed
if it gets wet, the one that doesn’t melt
if it’s exposed to heat

Write my name on my leg, Mama
Make the lines thick and clear
Add your special flourishes
so I can take comfort in seeing
my mama’s handwriting when I go to sleep

Write my name on my leg, Mama
and on the legs of my sisters and brothers
This way we will belong together
This way we will be known
as your children

and please write your name
and Baba’s name on your legs, too
so we will be remembered
as a family

No it's not sarcastic. You laid down a challenge. I accepted it.

I'm ND and very literal, I'm afraid. If you meant something else other than what you said in your post then you'll have to say exactly what your intention was with this post for me to be able to understand why you posted it.

The fact it’s happening is what is devastating.

The woman’s expression of her emotion is moving, the poem not especially for me.

That’s really upsetting, watching with the video with the real footage of kids having their names written on their limbs because they ‘know’ what’s to come. I didn’t cry but that’s not how I show my emotion anyway. The last bit made my heart sink. Those poor babies. I am ND too.
