Children are being killed in the west bank. Why?

Are they collateral damage from Hamas (that doesn't exist in the west bank) too? It sounds like they are trying to get a reaction from the Palestinians in the West Bank.

Israeli forces kill six Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces killed five Palestinian children in Nour Shams refugee camp yesterday and shot and killed one Palestinian boy near Ramallah today.

Just Israel defending themselves......against children. Don't underestimate children, they could have been throwing stones at a helicopter or running away from an Israeli soldier or something 🤦🏻‍♀️

Waits to see what people say to defend this atrocity then.

ketchup07070 · 24/10/2023 16:00

@25milesfromhome Are you saying any non combatants killed in west bank are collateral damage in targeting Hamas? That seems to ignore settler violence, the raiding of places like Huwara and the use of live fire on protestors, (and anyone who happens to be in the line of fire.)

25milesfromhome · 24/10/2023 16:05

No, I’m saying that @ChickenNugget6 ’s claim that Hamas don’t exist in the West Bank is false.

ketchup07070 · 24/10/2023 16:11

@25milesfromhome. OK, i see. It's likely there are Hamas supporters in the WB, although their governing body is the PA, so Hamas is not operating at institutional levels in the same way. I think there are various causes of violence in the WB, and I think the occupation, settlements and appropriation of resources are major factors.

Hamas are in the West Bank. They’ve been carrying out suicide attacks in Israel from the West Bank since the 90’s. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hamas-sees-west-bank-battleground-with-new-israel-govt-2023-01-18/

Any comment on the murdered kids, no?

I agree, those are definitely major factors, the settler expansion into the West Bank is outrageous. Although Hamas are not operating at institutional levels there, they have worked in the area themselves and with other terrorist groups such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad to carry out many attacks and are happy to use Palestinian children and adults in the WB as martyrs.

Because Hamas hide in civilian areas. Family often live with them.
in any was innocent people get killed
Hamas cheerfully killed civilians
what do you expect Israel to do they can’t avoid some civilian casualties
Hamas constitution declares their aim to kill every Jew on earth
hamas are voted in by the people what do they think is going to happen
how can you expect Israel to be concerned faced with this
hamas last week stated that they want to take over the world and enforce strict Islam on to everyone
is that acceptable to you
bottom line is if Hamas had not attacked Israel this would not be happening
i was in Israel on hols when there was a rocket attack two years ago three people in the next street were killed
why did you not mention the civilians killed by Hamas is that ok with you

Read the article it is nothing about Hamas. These 14 year olds were throwing stones at armed soldiers who were allowing their homes to be destroyed.

Also Israel killed many children before the existence of Hamas so using them as an excuse is ridiculous.

No because this thread is about children in the west bank being murdered. We have heard the arguments for the killing of Palestinians and Israelis on both sides. What's the justification for this?

Efacsen · 24/10/2023 16:43

Throwing stones [rocks] is very dangerous and the soldiers shouldn't have to tolerate that

Why don't they taser them?

Cornettoninja · 24/10/2023 16:49

The only people trying to justify anything is old men wielding whatever power they have or the people unabashedly cheering them on from the sidelines (which ever flag they’re holding) and parroting whatever they’ve heard from the old man’s mouths.

Everyone else is just fucking horrified at it all. The fact you’d even start this thread tells me very clearly which group you fall into.

Roste · 24/10/2023 16:54

That was a difficult article to read OP but nothing surprises me in this conflict anymore. Such beautiful young children murdered in cold blood, what a waste it all is.

Toothyfruity · 24/10/2023 17:00

So the answer to IDF murdering children is still Hamas even in situations that have absolutely nothing to do with Hamas. Good to know.

feralunderclass · 26/10/2023 22:04

Nothing new, they've been killing children in the West Bank for years. The only new thing is that Western media are now reporting it.

or maybe it’s not Hamas. Maybe it’s the illegal occupying violent settlers

25milesfromhome · 27/10/2023 02:34

No, it’s definitely Hamas, co-ordinated from the West Bank, sometimes collaborating with other terrorist groups such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade. They’re happy to use Palestinians in the West Bank as martyrs, they don’t care how many die in pursuit of their ideology. 15 years of suicide attacks in Israel, killing 733 people.

25milesfromhome · 27/10/2023 02:38

In your self righteous fug, you might have missed the bit where I said “ the settler expansion into the West Bank is outrageous”.

Three year old boy killed. Initially IDF tried to blame Palestinians

Then they said "The statement went on to say that the only action that would be taken was reprimanding the soldier who had fired into the air “in violation of orders” and that the army would “continue to learn and improve”."
Three-year-old Palestinian boy shot by Israeli soldiers dies in hospital | Palestinian territories | The Guardian

Israel says Palestinian toddler killed ‘unintentionally’ | Occupied West Bank News | Al Jazeera

This is bloody awful and totally unacceptable. The IDF response is shit, yet they responded and apologised. Hamas would say yes we did it and it was great, death to all Jews. That’s why hamas is a designated terrorist organisation and the IDF isn’t.

Notalldogs23 · 31/10/2023 00:19

There's a war on, it's leaking into the West Bank. War is horrendous.

Throwing stones? Teenagers in Northern Ireland threw petrol bombs at soldiers and they still managed not to murder any children. No excuse IDF

Ohlalalalala · 05/11/2023 09:26

Dumbfounded at the pps trying to justify killing children 😡
The irony is that this is Mumsnet which is primarily -not solely, I know- used by mums!
A child is a child and should be offlimits.
But the IDF have always had a predilection for targeting them. 😡😡😡
