Best time of day to test with Clear Blue Ov tests?

Hi. Right, been ttc #3 for 16 months now (incl 1 mc) and feel its time to apply some science, hence the CB ovulation tests. I know it says you can test any time of day but is there a particular time of day people think is best? (I know first thing in the morning is best for preg tests but not sure if same applies for ov tests). Thanks ladies, you're a fab bunch (been following for a while).

HI Jessplus2. I've been trying 10 months for my second and getting impatient too! I read the instructions for my Boots ov sticks and they said DO NOT test with early morning urine.

I usually test after lunch. Just seems to be the best time for me (when DS1 is asleep).

I think the main thing is to be consistent. So you don't miss the surge.

Hi Mimystarr, thats interesting re the Boots test - I wonder why? I'm 3 tests in and i'll be honest, I've been testing first thing in the morning so maybe I should change the time. I'm beginning to think it'll never happen - the smiley face or a positive pregnancy test! The best of luck to you too.

For some reason you can test first thing with the clearblue digital opk (the ones that give you the smiley) I would be inclined to back up (because the LH surge can last as little as 12 hours) with a cheaper test in the late afternoon (most fertility experts say test in the afternoon) I did that this month and last month and caught my surge in the afternoon. The month before though i got a morning from clearblue digi. Good luck anyway! Hope you get the result you want very soon

Not opks, blood tests are needed now.

If you have been trying to conceive for 16 months without success then a visit to the GP is in order. You are now beyond the stage of using such kits anyway (and these are also beset with problems at the best of times).

A woman can easily have more than one LH surge a month (these kits work on two misleading principles, namely that there is only one LH surge and that such a surge is followed by ovulation. Both are not true).
Blood tests to see what your hormone levels are like will give a far more accurate picture.
