Hi

I read in the book that everyone talks about that thrush can create a hostile sperm environment. However I googled it and other reputable fertility specialists say it doesnt.....

what does everyone think. I can take the pain of swi while the little bird is present, but not if its a pointless exercise!!!

Hmm, don't know whether it will affect your fertility, but you might want to consider that you may pass thrush to your dp this way. He might not get any symptoms himself but you could just end up passing it back and forth between you!

Mmmmm don't know tbh. It's one of those annoying things where it might possibly make things a little 'hostile' but no one would say it was considered contraception iyswim.

As frustrating as it is (coming from someone who has been TTC for months & also had a little visit from the songbird once or twice!), I think you are probably better off spending this cycle trying to get rid of it without running the risk of passing it to your DP and then back again and possibly jeopardising future cycles.

Sorry, I know its probably not what you wanted to hear.

I suffer from terrible thrush although havent had it for the last couple of months. It hasnt stopped me conceiving although it has been 2 years since my last MC.... Will watch this thread carefully.

well I am on cycle 5, and was getting it in the early months, but it tailed off and i thought I had sorted it. I even said to the doctor last week that I had nailed it . Dont want to give up on a month as I am 38 now, and right in my fertile time!

My feeling is that it is possible to conceive during a visit from the songbird (I like that earplugs - very poetic) - i.e. you couldn't reliably use it as a contraceptive - but I'm sure it won't do anything to enhance the fertile quality of the CM.

I agree with Earlpugs - probably best trying to get rid of the thrush this month. On that note, if the oral tablets don't work at keeping it away, try Balance Activ (available via the internet) which restores the normal pH and flora and is really quick and effective. You can't use it whilst TTC tho so use it this month and get back to TTC next month.

Hmm...don't know about the affecting fertility bit but I have read and can testify to swilling out the badly behaved fandango with a bottle wash of 1 part cider vinegar to 5 parts water becasue of the vinegar PH being inappropriate to the ph preferred by yeast.
