Can anyone suggest what the hell is going on?

I usually spot for a few days before my full AF gets going but this month I've been spotting for 6 days ('old' brownish blood, very scant) with period-like cramps and proper back pressure and pain, but no sign of AF. I don't usually get cramps etc before AF comes. Now the spotting is getting less (it usually gets heavier and AF comes) and I have been feeling completely shit all day (dizzy, light headed, faint) with strong pressure in the small of my back. I am 14 days past having a postive ovulation test but did a negative pregnancy test this morning.

Having had an ectopic pregnancy previously I panicked this afternoon and went to our local women's hospital emergency room. Saw a nice nurse for triage but then a very dismissive male doctor who said it was 'silly' to think about ectopic with a negative pregnancy test, redid the test (negative again) and sent me packing. Still no change. It obviously isn't ectopic pregnancy, but does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? Am I just overwrought and emotional with bad PMT??

Practically all i can do is wait for AF to come, but I just wondered if anyone has had similar experiences and can reassure me I'm not losing my marbles

Lily, you are not cracking up, the same exact thing happened to me in the summer...I thought i'd got OV wrong and it was a late implantation bleed . Try not to worry, it has never happened to me again since

Lilysma I'm sorry you are going through this.

Since I've started TTC my cycle has gone a bit strange, including spotting (NEVER spotted before in my life) and late periods (always regular in the past), leaving me to think I'm pregnant when I'm not. I swear my body is playing a cruel joke on me sometimes

I guess it is just a waiting game - either you are pregnant and it's not showing up on a test yet (it can happen...) or you're not and your period is just taking a while to appear for unfathamable reasons.

If the pain gets worse though and your period still doesn't arrive then I would go back to the doctors / emergency room. Don't worry about dismissive doctors, it's your body and with your history you have a right to be worried.

Thanks everyone, for your reassurance. Of course AF arrived in the night on Friday . I still have bad backache and pressure though. I guess it was just bad PMT, which I've never really had before. I guess the psychological pressure is getting to me more than I thought and this may be exacerbating PMT.

I really want to try not to go through that next month! Does anyone know whether you can take evening primrose oil when TTC?

Glad it's all sorted.

I take Wellwoman supplements which are ideal and completely safe when TTC, as well as multi vits they have Evening Primrose Oil, Starflower Oil and Folic Acid. I'm going to sound like i'm advertising them here but for me personally they seem to have reduced the pre-AF spotting, helped regulate my cycle from 28-33 to 28-29 days and have increased my EWCM. HTH

Great, thanks, that definitely helps - will try them, I just take ordinary pregnacare ones at the moment. Will keep everyone posted!
