barbie I'll try to text someone quickly who might be near a computer? It takes an hour to get home from there... so I prob can't post till later...

last ante-natal

barbie1 · 04/01/2010 12:15

thanks iggy...if you cant dont worry, i will just have to wake up to the good news tomorrow

bluesatinsash · 04/01/2010 13:05

Good Luck Iggy - not that your bean needs it! Bet it did you good being away from tinternet over hols

MLS - have another boing from me . Lovely to see you back and full of that mlsdetermination

Mermaid - did you find the uniform? Hope getting back into the daily routine helps you through the next few days and weeks. Villagemum is often in my thoughts and I wonder if she ever got her second book finished...

Monkey - thinking about you today honey. Hope your DS's op goes smoothly, am I right in saying grommets are to help him hear? Big hug to you and hope he recovers quickly x

Hi Annie - yes I've dipped my toe in the post-natal thread. It a bit daunting as there are so many people but will persevere! Sorry to hear your scar has been sore and weeping. I've not looked at mine but other than initial bruising its fine. As MLS said, at least our fango's are intact . Ahem. I can't drive til Feb but DH is off until 18th Jan so that's a great help.

Vjay - is Ajay teething already?! Yowser! How is the weaning going?

Cupcake - how exciting getting a new house before lo arrives . Any more thoughts on names?

Thanks for your reassurance about co-sleeping. Benjamin was snuggled in with me again last night and only needed one night feed at 3.40am then that was him until 7am. do think tanking him up in the evening helps . Did our trip to retail park and had a proud push of the pram round Homebase and Comet!

DH and DS are off to IKEA to get more toy storage for DS. DS is in his new big boy car seat - it can go in front seat with seat belt so him and DH are off like a couple of truckers singing Liverpool footie songs .

No sign of snow budging - hurrumph...

VJay · 04/01/2010 13:08

Wow the big 30 barbie are you doing anything special?

OP posts:
VJay · 04/01/2010 13:15

blue I put vm's name in on amazon a few months ago to see if another book came up but it was just her fisrt one still, but it's now in paperback.
Ajay has had potato today but he wasn't too keen so I will mix it with some carrot tomorrow, which he loves. He also likes pear. That's it so far but I have some apple all done ready for him to try soon. I've also ordered some sweet potato and swede to come on my next shop ready for me to cook and puree, yum
As for teething, he is dribbling a lot and is always chomping down on things so I think it's teething, what do you all think? DS1 started at about this time but didn't cut his first tooth until he was 7 months.

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 04/01/2010 13:39

DS1 loves sweet potato and has done since he was weaned. I'm sure Ajay will scoff it up! He was the same too re: teething. Drooled through bibs like there was no tomorrow from about four months, chomped down on everything but no teeth til seven months .

VJay · 04/01/2010 14:09

Teething it is then

sabs not heard from you for a while, how are you doing?

OP posts:
barbie1 · 04/01/2010 14:10

vjay dh wants to send me off to a spa or something but to be honest i really really want to do nothing but chill and relax in the peace...he has talked me into at least going to have a meal and watching avater in 3d. I think it will be the last time i go to the cinema before baby arrives...2 hours is just too long to sit still for!

Sabs1981 · 04/01/2010 14:53

Hi vjay Thanks for thinking of me. I am around but lurking. DH went back to work today, having been off since christmas eve, so it feels strange (and more time-consuming!) having to do everything myself once again

Hope you're well. Give ajay a big kiss from me

Love to everyone else. Promise to do a mammoth post to everyone later on today or tomorrow. Be back soon

VJay · 04/01/2010 15:05

barbie a meal and the cinema sounds nice, it will the last time for a wee while

Hi sabs it is tough when they go back to work, but you'll get you and saara into a routine soon enough, only for it to be broken when dh is off again

MLS good to see that fighting spirit is still in there hon - me & my mum used to say look up bouncebackability in the dictionary & you'll see a picture of us, you're obviously in there too Im pleased too see.. Perhaps you could try speaking to consultant again though? xxx

Mermaidthelovelybraveone hope the swing back to reality wasnt too harsh, perhaps maybe even cathatric & all part of that healing process? Another lady that could be calling that consultant in off the golf course perhaps? Either way those fibroids have to go dont they? One small step at a time eh? See what this year brings cos you're one lady that seriously deserves a break.. xxx

Barbie woo woo the big 30 eh?! I loved turning 30 & got together with my DH just after Do whatever you feel like doing, you'll be celebrating the new decade in the best way poss a few weeks after anyway! Cupcake its so exciting to be getting a new bigger place for you too! Im at how time is flying for you then have to remember theres only a few weeks between us Only 4 more sleeps til your 20wk scan! I think its nice to keep the flavour as a surprise, I normally love surprises but just couldnt not ask we have looked at baby so many times each week & feels wierd to say 'it' but still feels funny to say 'her' too!

Curly how long til you pack up work now? Cant be long surely? Did your sickness ease up whilst you werent working? I hope it did, also hows that SPD? My pelvic bone on the left side has been hurting & on recent scans babys head seemed to be in that general area, cant imagine how painful it must be for you..

LBM Ill be holding your hand on thurs(?) too.. You & Cupcake* must be both be a little further than 20 weeks though? Are you finding out the flavour too? I havent felt movement yet that I know of. Im itching to feel baby move but dont really know what I should be feeling! Its so cute that your DC are your announcement tannoys! Bless your mum too, she'll be fine, its less time for her to wait to meet her new GC!

Monkey hope your DS grommet op goes OK.. I can imagine what a state Id be, Im not good with things like that & think DH will have to do all the immunisation type things cos Im such a wimp!

Blue I dont feel Iv had enough time to say how so pleased & proud I am of you & how very exciting it is to hear all about Ben! Its just so lovely! Bet you are freezing up there at the mO & sure he looks so cute all dressed up like an eskimo on your trips out. Made me to hear of your DS1 & Dh out like truckers singing footy songs! Also wanted to say how touching your post was to me about my dad passing out the cigars in heaven, really made me sob & smile all at once xxx

Moon Im really pleased to hear you sounding so happy & postive & turning a corner. Its a very long road we travel down but we do all come out of this stronger I believe & will make absolutely amazing mothers at the end of it cos of all the tribulations to get there.. Enjoy the wine & sparkly ring some more, we have a whole year to complete the dream! BTW you must check out confetti.co.uk I loved them when I planned my wedding!

Jools another bright & bubbly happy lady! Im adding tons of babydust to that sand you're buried in my lovely! Im secretly excited - say no more!

Vjay hows that bouncing boy? Cant believe you're talking about solids! Our first graduate has grown so much already! We'll be talking schools soon! (maybe a bit ahead of myself there! ) Feel sorry for you in your -14 temps - Brrrrrrrr! I was also thinking of Villagemum after Mermaid reminded me the 3 of us all mc'd within days of each other last jan, cant believe she's been gone a year, hope she is happy & well..

Was also wondering hwo Sabs is doing? Hopefully enjoying much needed family time over the holidays as she said... Big hug to Saara... x

Lovely to hear from Annie too but ouch to the weepy C sect scar Hope you are taking it easy where you can? Can you draft in friends & family to help you out where poss?

Big wave to Buddha too if you are lurking? Hope you are all fully healed now & enjoying mummydom!

Neeko yuk to back to school, at least you have today & only 6wks more to go! Hope your lovely dads repair work on your boiler has kept you warm in these freezing temps! Thanks for checking in on me, you are such a sweetheart! xx

Right, Ive redeemed myself & caught up with all of you (I think ) Pregbrain is now in full effect! Im still a bit all over the place, dreading work on mon, mainly cos of all the new aspects of the job/team/manager etc, but still same faces in general dept so looking forward to the surprised looks & ensuing baby talk! Be wierd to not run away from it, as in the past! Also decided last day will prob be May 7th so having a date helps!
Gonna just mark Dads aniversary by letting off ballons in mums garden by his tree he grew & loved, which has some of his ashes under, its too cold for the cemetary (& bit depressing). Mum is thankfully feeling a bit better so Im reassured by that too..
Im trying to look forward to more milestones, 20 wk scan on 26th, have another scan at EPU at midday on Thurs, our lovely sonographer said door is always open (even though only meant to scan til 14wks!!). I have a big tummy which is helping things feel more real & read that baby now knows me & Dh voices & my body pattern! Just wanna feel her move!
DH back to work today so Id better get in bath so am all presentable when he gets back in an hour! I have 1 week to completely change my body clock! AGH! At least first 2wks of work will be half days 10-2pm, then last week of jan I have scan on tues & ante natal on thurs so will be a 3 day week, then its feb, a short month!

cupcakefairy · 04/01/2010 16:05

Hello lovely weeble 4ever I like your reasoning about work passing quickly! Yep, I will be 21+2 at my 20wk scan.. only cos 20 weeks fell around Xmas and we wanted a Friday.
I'm sure you will feel movement any day now. My first flutterings were a bit 'is it? isn't it?' but now it is a lot more pronounced and sometimes really surprises me if baby does a big flip I'm having to turn over a lot more carefully at night now cos if I do it too quick I get pains not v nice.

annie yowser to weeping scar hope that heals up quick... was just thinking 5 out of our 7 grads have had c-sections (I think?). Is that unusual or does it represent the general trend?? (Don't know if you guys would know that?!)

blue so glad you got to show ds2 off when will he be meeting all the extended family? Re names, dh has conceded to Jude being on the table after I moaned that he hated every boys' name suggestion..yippee! I'm still working on him for Benedict and Theodore though I think the former might make for a bit of a bully magnet which I'd like to avoid as we already have a surname that rhymes with gay! Our poor DCs!

barbie enjoy your 30th bday treat though I should warn you that Avatar is more than 2 hours sitting still!! More like 4 once you factor in trailers etc! V good though. Dh and I adore films and are slightly lamenting the fact we'll have to give up our cinema passes come May online dvd rental will have to take its place!

Hi sabs lovely to hear from you Must be so hard getting used to having dh around then him going again but sure you and Saara will get back into being just girls together Hope dh enjoyed his first proper time off with his little girl.

GracieGirl · 04/01/2010 18:09

Hello! Happy New Year!! Just flying past, I've only read up until Sunday morning so I'm a bit behind but just wanted to say a quick hello before I head out for my brothers girlfriends birthday. I really do need to stop rushing around every where.

MLS I'm so so sorry. I can't believe its happening again.

I've got lots to say but I have to go out in 30 mins and haven't showered yet, I'll be back tomorrow with a full update.

Iggy you should be being scanned now and seeing your lovely baby.

I saw the midwife today (35wks+2) and the George's head is 3/5th's engaged (I felt George start to drop about a week ago - my lungs work again!)- should I be getting excited??? Or at least getting round to packing my hospital bag?
The midwife is sending me for an extra scan on Friday to check on the progress as my fundus height is only 32 cm (1cm less than 2 weeks ago), but surely that makes sense if head is engaged??? My Mum and DH are stressing out about all the half finished decorating jobs, but I'm a bit past caring now!

Back tomorrow with a proper post. xxx

slightlycrumpled · 04/01/2010 18:27

Quick crash for mummylovesadie. I hope you don't mind me coming on to your lovely thread, but I just wanted to say 'happy new year' to you, and that I hope 2010 brings you some luck and a baby! I'm sorry to read your recent news, it really is shit, shit, shit! (Hope swearing isn't too frowned upon on this thread!)

You probably don't remember me but we were on the April 2010 thread and I was very touched by your kindness to me.

Again, I hope your wishes come true this year. x

slightlycrumpled · 04/01/2010 18:29

Oh forgot to say I think I was posting under the name draughts then.

MummyLovesSadie · 04/01/2010 19:01

Thank you Slightly that is very kind of you. Feel free to come over & 'see' us at any time on this thread - we are a friendly bunch!

4everhopeful · 04/01/2010 19:32

Heard via Curly that Iggys scan went well! Just changed post cos was about to ask if any news, was gettin worried! Phew!

Joolsiam · 04/01/2010 20:03

Hooray

I was lurking and getting worried too !!!

Neeko · 04/01/2010 20:41

Hello lovely chatty ladies. Where else on MN could you get a thread that supports each other through chemical pg, 2ww, 12 week scans, announcements, weeeble wobbles, significant birthdays, boiler breakdowns and baby weaning and teething! I love our thread!

Iggy So pleased that your scan went well. Congratulations that's ahuge hurdle crossed.

MLSakaTigger so pleased to hear you bouncing back. I have everything crossed for you this month but would ask the impossible that you wait until 13 DPO before testing to save yourself the heartache (though I did enjoy the picture messages)

Monkey Hope your brave little soldier is doing ok. Has to still be worth another present even though it's just after Christmas.

4ever I'm sure that work will be easier than you think as the new position will make time fly and you'll be able to be more open about how you're feeling. Hopefully no more weebling moments in the toilets. Nice to see you have a mat date too.

Vjay love the weaning talk. My DD loved butternut squash and when she got bigger she loved it with couscous. Couscous is an excellent lump-provider for later.

Blue Had a big smile at the thought of DS1 and his new seat. A new seat for DD is on our to do list for this weekend as I'm starting to get pelvic pain and I'm struggling to lift her in to the current one. Any tips for the pelvic pain? Also love the idea of you being snuggled in to DS2.

Barbie I was 6 months pg with DD at my 30th and was rewarded with a diamond pendant to match my engagement ring. I hope you enjoy your cinema and dinner night. Demand a foot massage from DH too.

Sabs lovely to hear from you. Hope you and Saara settled back into routine today. Bet it was fab having some family time.

Moon are you still all smiley?

LBM Still can't believe how far on you are. Hope the back to school went ok and DD was able to shout her news above the school bell.

Jools Know you've got sand in your ears and eyes but thinking of you and keepng everything crossed. Hoping for a huge smiley post from you on Thursday.

Bakingqueen Hope all is well with you and you're thinking of jumping back on the carrousel (sp?) after your break.

Annie Know you've had it tested already but please keep an eye on that scar and hound them about it if you're not happy.

Buddha Any tips from you re pelvic pain would be good too. Hope you're enjoying family life.

Curly work is damned inconvenient Shouldn't be long now.

Gracie wow it's getting close. It doesn't seem that long since your DH sent you on here after your BFP cos you wouldn't stop crying and he didn't know what to do with you! Now stop running around and pack that bag, I can't wait to pack mine but still have 11 weeks to go so too early yet.

Know I've missed a few people but can't think who so sorry.

DD has moved on (thankfully) from carols to A Whole New World from Aladdin. Very funny especially as she wants her dad to sing the male part.

MummyLovesSadie · 04/01/2010 22:15

Hello all

Wow what a busy thread today, I see we have all resumed to our normal chatty selves. The thread was like a ghost-ship over Christmas.

Right where do I begin? Ok I'll begin with me !

I've been doing loads of research on when to take baby aspirin & although before I was taking it when I had a bfp I've found a load of evidence to suggest that you should be taking it when you are ttc as well:

'Baby aspirin helps with the blood flow to the reproductive organs. It helps to build the uterine lining. This can possibly help to reduce the chances of miscarriage. It will help with chemical pregnancies, pregnancies that occur when the egg implants but doesn't complete the process. whereby you might note a triphasic pattern only to find that your bbt drops around time when your af is due.'

Well I did actually have a triphasic chart last month (I didn't even realise until Neeko pointed it out to me!) & if aspirin can help with the implantation then I'm starting to take it now.

Also I'm really excited to have found a fantastic acupuncturist that thinks she can help me. I had a couple of sessions somewhere else after my first mc but it was working out to be too expensive. This lady does multi-bed treatments (several patients in the same room) & is almost half the price I was paying before. I explained to her in detail my history & she said:

'I have had very good results treating women with recurrent miscarriage. That's wonderful you can get pregnant but I'm so sorry to hear about all of those miscarriages. Your story is very consistent with one syndrome in Chinese Medicine. I can give you more info when you come in.'

!

That's enough about me, Neeko lol at your dd singing A Whole New World & wanting your dh to sing a duet. You will HAVE to record that on your swanky new phone! Wait until 13dpo until I test......hmmm I'll think about it but I don't hold out much hope!

Iggy Congrats on your scan, hope you get a chance to log on tonight & tell us the details.

GG yes definitely pack that bag. As long as you have some trackie bottoms & a couple of t-shirts you won't need any other clothes.

Cupcake you made me nearly spit out my mouthful of coke reading about your surname rhyming with 'gay'! No matter now hard you try to think of a non-teasable name, kids will always be able to make something funny out of it. All I can say about my surname is that I hope Only Fools & Horses is truly dead & buried by the time my dd goes to school!

Jools come on girl - do it for the small panters!

4ever so glad your Mum is feeling a bit better. When I first felt dd move it felt like little tickly bubbles. Just think of all the positives going back to work - you'll be able to show off your growing bump as all of your colleagues did before you were pregnant. That will feel so surreal. Also you probably don't feel like it now but it is healthy to have something to focus on other that your baby. You'll start to feel more like 'you' when you go back, but not the old version, the new improved pregnant version.

Monkey I bet your ds is now demanding his favorite toys & lots of ice cream! I hope it all went well, I know several people who have had gromets put in with no complications. I know what it is like though having a child that is not well - you'd do anything to be in their place. By the way it looks like Sam Mitchell did it!

Annie ouch at your c-scar, hope it clears up soon. I know someone who went back to hospital the day after she was discharged as she had a lot of pain & when they took the dressing off the scar split right open .

Sorry I don't have the time to mention you all (Big Brother is calling ) but huge waves to Moon, Curly, BQ, Barbie, Mermaid, MrsKate, LBM, Buddha, Slightly (if you are still lurking ), Sabs, Vjay, Blue and thank you, thank you, THANK YOU ALL for your lovely words & support. I truly could not have got through the last year without you all.

MummyLovesSadie · 04/01/2010 22:38

Just reading back on the millions of posts today, Blue yes you are so right about early hpt's being a double edged sword. I just don't seem to be able to stop myself though, I just HAVE to know!

Moon so happy to hear you sounding zen-like. I don't think I've known you to sound this at-one with things. The state of mind you are in is perfect for getting a bfp!

iggypiggy · 05/01/2010 09:14

Hi All,

Thanks for posting for me 4ever

Just wanted to let you all know how yesterday went (am bit over excited). I was a bit of a gibbering wreck by the time it came for the appointment and I think they may have been clear cos the dr said 'shall we just go straight to the scan part' - so we saw our baby up on the screen Was so relieved... It was wriggling about alot - which I wasn't expecting and we heard the heartbeat and they did some measurements and it is still exactly the same for dates (am 12 weeks today). So due on 20th July. Also did a nuchal measurement and apparently the risk is 1 in 1650 - which is good isn't it?

Anyway - must stop - bit hyper - sorry...

MLS that acupuncturist sounds really good! Also sounds like you got some positive things happening - so 2010 will def be your year

Joolsiam · 05/01/2010 09:30

Just what you need MLS Some facts, a bit of hope and excitement Am interested in what you found out about aspirin, as I'd read somewhere that you shouldn't take before you get a BFP as it can hinder implantation ! Wish I knew where I'd read it - maybe a MN thread so hopefully your info is more official

btw, I'm 13DPO today and haven't tested - do I get a gold star ? Normally when I convince myself I have symptoms, they all disappear about now, but I still have significantly increased boobage that ACHES in the cold, feel nauseous, ridiculously tired, have raging thrush and my hair has stopped falling out There - I've said it now, so will now have scared all my symptoms away !

Strangely I've been utterly convinced on a very deep level since conception that I am PG - setting myself up for a big fall I think but I just can't help it, even though I'm trying to be sensible .

Iggy - you are allowed to be hyper, and those nuchal results are excellent You are REALLY having a baby
