x-post neeko ...hi. So sad for you not getting a snow day! Love the Friends reference

Neeko · 06/01/2010 13:36

Which is another excellent thing you'll be able to do for this baby Cupcake - you'll have a telly/film reference for everything!

BlueMoon1981 · 06/01/2010 13:48

cupcake it wasn't meant to be directed at anyone, but if it helps then thats fine! I just meant i have known people who hadnt planned their los or couldnt afford to have them but things always worked out ok in the end.

and i love my df its still a novelty to me, and i grinned to myself yesterday when he referred to me on the phone to someone that i was his fiancee

4everhopeful · 06/01/2010 13:48

mermaidspurse · 06/01/2010 13:56

apostrophes should be banned

yep snowed in sort of, one flake and the county grown to a stop.
ds and me have just had grilled ruby gratefruit all that was missing was a glace cherry.

barbie forgot about your appoint. sorry but lovely that all is ok you didn't ask the flavour?

moon you really sound like you have turned a huge emotional corner and its lovely to hear - sorry about that evil evil witch.

4ever god I missed the bleeding bit, sorry, sorry. You must have been panicked beyond reason for a while.
Its good to see you have a scan tomorrow just to keep you going another week. slowly slowly you are getting there

Lbm hope you find time to get some nice comfy 'slacks' and enjoy waving at your bean tomorrow too.

I have done something really, really naughty and applied to look after a guide dog puppy. dh will need a large bottle of whisky poured down his throat and me and ds will have to really up the defcom heart string approach.

ig lovely to see you sitting on cloud nine[

On the right time to have a child? its never the right time and it invariably works out.

cupcake you will be fine its good sign really maybe to see you wobble now rather than later. It sounds like you have lots and lots of support around you and all your cyber aunts will be here too

Being pregant is a time when you naturally want to feel settled so you are bound to feel a bit 4 in the morningish.x

iggypiggy · 06/01/2010 14:00

pssssst mermaid - I have a pic of labardor puppies on my profile... - also I do have a scan pic up there - so maybe not look if you not want see that tho...

I am supposed to be getting one of those lovely labs in the pic in March - but am now unsure as to the sanity of such a thing (already have one dog)... Guide dog puppy sounds v. lovely!

mermaidspurse · 06/01/2010 14:05

I met a completley mad girl at a party a month or so ago with a small preggy tummy dressed from head to foot in that horrible bright yukky pink who was obsessed with the fact that she hoped she was having a girl. Hope is not strong enough actually It was alllllll she talked about. To the extent that she was only eating sweet things cos that way she would get a girland

complete fruit cake.

She was watching my ds and his cousin as though they were some particually virulent form of plague fearful that they may pass on a bit of testostrazone(sp)

guess what she is having? I am bad.

mermaidspurse · 06/01/2010 14:08

omg iggy you have a baby in your tummy
yummy puppy also. In for a penny in for a pound. It will be good for the babys immunity.

iggypiggy · 06/01/2010 14:11

mermaid I am dog obsessed - my mum says same as you That girl sounds nuts - I too would about a boy for her

Joolsiam · 06/01/2010 14:40

oh Mermaid what a strange woman !

Iggy - I am cat obsessed I have only 2 at the moment - both Siamese

iggypiggy · 06/01/2010 14:53

jools I like cats too, especially siamese ones

VJay · 06/01/2010 16:12

Hiya

Another round of applause for blues boobs

mermaid I lol at you over that stupid girl, I would be exactly the same you are not bad.

Loving the how many dc's talk, I feel so complete now but there are times when both boys are tucked up asleep and I think to myself I could have more, but then one of them will wake up and demand something and I think that no 2 is fine . Also I don't fancy going through all the heartache and weebly stress again, I'm very lucky to have what I have so will stop while I'm ahead

VJay · 06/01/2010 16:13

Plus I'm a stress head over money too.

Hello! I queue-jumped for my scan, the one I was supposed to be having on Friday for being "small for dates". The George was really quiet over night, not normal at all, and then this morning didn't have the crazy dancing about and trying to escape out of the front of my belly routine which is normal every morning . I did all the normal things to wake the George up but no luck, and DH couldn't wake the George up either. Normally DH shouting "Hello The George!" (yes we are mad!) at my belly starts all sorts of movements. I rang the midwifery triage and they had me in for monitoring. Yes you guessed it - the second the midwife tried to attach the CTG machine to my belly the George went crackers - kicks, fidgets, hiccups, the lot! Spent an hour on the heart monitor - all is fine and they did my scan too just to check. It was great to get another look at The George and still managed to not find out the sex, which was great, it seemed a shame to find out at this late stage.

Iggy lovely to hear your scan went so well, I lurked to get the results but my internet connection has been a bit dodgy this week so couldn't post anything.

I think I've given up driving, I don't want to go anywhere in all this snow in any case but I drove to my brothers girlfriend birthday on Monday night and really struggled with coordination of my legs for clutch control. I think its time to hibernate for a bit.

cupcakefairy · 06/01/2010 17:06

Gracie great news ..and that made me laugh about your dh shouting at your belly we haven't really done any talking to baby yet... maybe after the scan on Friday.

mermaid you too cracked me up with your story- what a crazy girl!! We also know a couple who desperately wanted a girl with their first and bought books about how to conceive girls etc... they now have 2 boys and it does make me laugh Nature will not be messed with!
Thanks for your lovely words and I love that term '4 in the morningish'... that is definitely how I feel! Had a big long chat with my bf this afternoon too and she always makes me feel better so I am very lucky to have so many wonderful women in my life
That sounds amazing about the guide dog puppy! Yay!

LBM re trousers - I don't have any mat ones yet either and lo has been protesting for weeks. I'm now employing the 'hair elastic round buttonhole' trick which is great! Will definitely have to get some proper mat wear soon though, it's getting ridiculous. Plus I'm finding it sooo hard to bend down now I feel like such an old woman!

jools I'm majorly a cat person too and just adored being able to snuggle with my parents' cat at home- cannot wait to be able to get one of my own (there's a plus for the 'buying' side of house-hunting!)

iggy yay! scan pic!

4ever sure everything will be just fine tomorrow but as always, know we're all there with you

4everhopeful · 06/01/2010 19:11

gracie my heart went out to you & know that sheer panic you must of felt, so glad all was well...! .....Cupcake thanks for the support hon, im such a state, i also burst into tears on dh when he got home then sobbed down pho to bf asking whats normal pain wise cos of these strange twinges & pains in pelvis suddenly felt v alone in that my epu saviour sonographer not really trained for this stage preg & tomorrow poss last of weekly scans, i have no midwife to ask things as im under consultant who i see every 5weeks, just felt very alone, scared & vulnerable all of a sudden.. Hoping maybe sonographer can help with my concerns tomorrow, if not i shall descend upon ante natal dept sobbing for a midwife.. Weebling majorly

cupcakefairy · 06/01/2010 20:23

Awww 4ever bless your heart So you don't see a midwife at all? seems crazy. You definitely need to have somebody on the end of a phone line to ask these kinds of questions- go in begging tomorrow for a contact number of a community midwife.
Just to try and reassure you, I get all sorts of weird pelvic and back pains too and I'm sure it's perfectly normal; just think of all that movement and change going on inside you! Really hope they can put your mind at rest tomorrow. Big hugs xxx

littlebellsmum · 06/01/2010 20:45

Evening all - we have snow, lots and lots of it. Hurrah!! I've never seen so much snow in the the UK - we have a good 10-12 inches and are quite close to where all those people are still stuck on the A3.

The bad part is that my scan really isn't going to happen tomorrow - I'll never get the car of the drive and out of the road and even if I did, I'm fairly certain that it will be cancelled. So, you will get yours first, Cupcake mermaid did you read that lovely article in the paper on Saturday on guide dog puppys too?

iggy I second Neeko about the Next stretch maternity trousers. Definetly the best - they were all the work trousers I had with DS. I only wore mat clothes for 2 months and wore those for every working day ( rinsing them every other night!!) Got some maternity clothes from my sister in law today and was gutted to see that they hadn't come back!

And neeko, this one is specially for you. You know how yesterday I was all smug as DC's hadn't talked about the baby at school and so, it was still pretty secret. Well, that isn't quite the case.

DD mentioned at breakfast that she had told two teaching assistants and one of them had prompted her to tell her whole class in carpet time. We then went sledging to the local park where there were loads of kids and mums from school and one mum I know came over to congratulate me . She then told me how she knew - apparently there was an assembly at school yesterday and the head asked them what they were going to do better in 2010 and DD put up her hand and said that she was going to be a better big sister as her mummy was having a baby!!! Stealth pregnancy is no more!

littlebellsmum · 06/01/2010 20:49

4ever Another option is the NCT if you can't get a midwife - their leaders can be very good and are often happy to give advice or at least be an ear to listen too?

cupcake thanks for the tip - will try it and am just about to buy some maternity bands

Joolsiam · 06/01/2010 20:53

awwww - love your DD stories LBM

GG - how scary - SO glad all was OK.

4Ever - meant to say yesterday, I can't imagine how your were feeling when you saw blood - heart stopping moment - phew

Mermaid - I melt at the guide dog puppies helping their owners collect cash in Asda - how will you ever part with them !

barbie1 · 07/01/2010 07:27

i have major snow envy i just want to pull on my hunters wellies, hand, scarf and gloves and play in the snow (and then transport myself back to a nice and sunny dubai )

4ever i too missed the part where you were bleeding heart in the mouth moment if there ever was one!
As for the aches and pains, they will get worse, in different places, come and go, get stronger then weaker...the whole shabang! my midwife told me that if everything shifted the way it does in pregnancy...say if you had an accident or something the changes are enough to kill a human...but cos it all happens slowly over time it is of course safe, however they are huge chances and ones that we will feel for the whole 9 months! I too am suffering with strange twinges and pains but thankfully its because the head is down and all the weight is bearing down too. If you go on line there are community midwives who just take calls all day from worried ladies, or always call your local labour ward who can direct you.

mermaid as a chocolate lab owner i say beware....you will fall in love with the little blighter and wont want to give him back I have always wanted to train a guide dog and remember being at a friend in school who's family constantly had them...by the way lol at the friend who wanted a girl...revenge is sweet!

lbm shame about the scan how soon can you rebook? Loving you dd telling the whole world the school about the new baby!

jools [biscuit} ?????

gg from 36 weeks the baby is meant to settle down lots and get into a little routine, however i would totally panick and rush to hospital too! glad everything is ok, good on you for not findoing out the sex, i still havent either. The boys name list isnt getting any longer or shorter and im totally stumped, in fact its causing sleepless nights! Did they give you any indiction to whether you will be early or late? or how heavy the baby is?

cupcake both you and i seem to have the same worries about being a good mummy i guess when its your own there isnt any right or wrong and the maternal instinct will kick in...ill let you know when it does this last 2 weeks have made me see how bloody impatient i am...and how intolerant to other peoples brats children. Are you finding out the flavour today?

A big barbie wave to everyone else...last 2 days with family..(clapping emotion) we are going to see if we can get upto the viewing deck on the burj, will report back in later
xx

Joolsiam · 07/01/2010 07:49

Barbie - you sound like an expert - very knowledgeable indeed - have a white coat and a gold star

As for me - 15DPO and no AF, but I wimped out of testing this morning - scared of it becoming real and then bleeding, so my head went straight back in the sand, ignoring the waves of nausea sweeping over me

I may change my mind later, or I may do as LBM told me and wait till Sat

Neeko · 07/01/2010 09:20

Just popped in for news on Jools but see she's still hiding in a sandcastle - or is that igloo?
Only at work for a very short time today due to DD starting nursery, but will be back later to catch up.
Have a good day all, especially the ever-wobbling 4ever

littlebellsmum · 07/01/2010 09:22

Sneaky post whilst trying to work with 2 dc's at home...

jools Three gold stars for not testing! The symptoms sound great but I remember you of old never wanting to test untill you coulod wait no longer as it was a shorter time to the scan. However is there any reason why you might want to know, like are you planning to try Cycloest or progesterone this time round and do you need a positive test to go and beg your GP? But I am not suggesting that you test!! No, no no, that is everyone else on this threads job!

Barbie you would have snow envy for the same amount of time as DS did. He loved it and had a great time sledging untill it came to walk home in wet clothes and through knee deep snow "Mummy, I want to be home right now!"

GG and Barbie Just be aware of one thing, apparently a day or so before birth, baby stops moving to conserve its energy for birth! Also, I always found that if I was worried about lack of movement, a snack and coffee always seemed to wake them up!

Joolsiam · 07/01/2010 15:04

Very very quiet on here today

Is everyone out building snowmen ? !

DP couldn't get to work, so I'm pretending to work from home whilst sat in the living room with him, as my study is like an ice box !

Still no AF, lots of nausea and hoooooge, aching boobs
